Damn. I know PNC put netting up basically all the way down the line past the dugouts. Makes you wonder if all teams are going to go to that.

They all should have a while ago.

Yes. This shouldn't be left up to the owners. And it shouldn't take someone dying to make it happen (I'm looking at you, NHL)

I’m sorry if something like that happens you have to delay the game for a bit. That’s devastating to see happen much less be the person that hit that ball

Really hope that kid is ok.

I"m hping that the fact that the fans seem to be watching the game and aren't monitoring where that Almora foul hit means that things aren't dire

People always argue it away with some variation of, "well, you should be paying attention to the game/stay off your phones/don't bring kids to those seats." Outside of the obvious reasons why the latter is beyond dumb for a sport that desperately needs kids to be into it, the whole "pay attention" way of blaming the victim is nonsense when the entire experience is designed by the teams to distract you. What, all the vendors and foods and drinks and scoreboard stuff aren't also competing for attention during the game? Come on.

Can’t post the tweet properly from my phone but this guy supposedly was a few rows behind them and said it didn’t look good.

Just saw a little toddler get hit with a foul ball at the Astros game 3 rows in front of me. It really did not lol good. They rushed her out of here. It is shocking.

Follow up tweet:

She went completely limp when the ball hit her. Is it scary quiet .

Baseball is secondary but since that happened the Cubs went from 1st and 2nd and 0 outs to Astros having runners on 1st and 3rd and 0 outs

Tangentially, people who say "real men don't bring baseball gloves to games" can pound sand. Having a glove on can save someone from serious injury.

Unfortunately, the only way anyone hears an update about the kid is if something tragic happens. Unless the Houston newspaper prints a blurb about how the kid is doing okay, we're unlikely to hear anything

Astros broadcast just showed Almora completely broken up between innings. They should have stopped the game.

ESPN showed Almora in tears hugging a security guard. He was definitely in tears.

Take it for what it's worth, but this is from the Astros' game thread on Reddit:

If the script doesn't work:

She is going be OK according to my mom. She was 4 rows away and just talked to security guard who said they are taking her to hospital for precautionary but early signs are good.

Edit: Little girl is 4. She is talking and awake. Security let Almora know too and he was emotional and thankful.

Really, really hope this is the case.
