1. The Bulls believe they have a team full of “ballers”

“We’ve added ballers to this team,” Boylen said. “Coby White, whether he’s a 1, he’s a 2 — he’s a baller. Shaq (Harrison’s) a baller. (Ryan Arcidiacono) is a baller...

Arcidiacono had the highest +/- rating on the team last year I believe though I think it says more about the Bulls roster than it does him

So I don't hate this Bulls team. Based on the preseason game vs. the Pelicans, they should be kinda fun to watch this year. LaVine is a star. I could see him ascending to one of the top 20 players in the league this year. If he, Lauri and Carter can play 65 games together, the Bulls could be a playoff team. If they shoot and pass like they did in the preseason game, they'll score a ton.

I think it's definitely a playoff team this year, barring huge injuries. On the optimistic, high end side I could see stuff coming together for a fun mid 40s win team.

I don't wanna go too crazy and say low 50s as the ceiling but it wouldn't shock me either.

A lot of the media/fans who are optimistic are saying stuff like "maybe .500/maybe playoffs" and I think that's selling this roster short and people just don't like to predict big jumps. It doesn't have to be linear progress.

Gosh I don't know. I will fully admit that I stand a chance of being completely wrong, but I just don't see it even in a diluted eastern conference. Moving the ball better and establishing some cohesive play offensively would be great, especially with a full season from Porter, but even with him this team is atrocious defensively. It's not due to a bad system or whatever, they are just collectively not a group of players that can play defense. They also still don't shoot the 3 for a high enough percentage to win shootouts.

I will say though, I'm very high on Otto Porter and think he's one of the most underrated players in the NBA, and the stuff he does well doesn't always show up on the stat sheet.

I think they COULD shoot the 3 well enough. They were 19th in the league in 3pt percentage last year. Porter's a pretty good 3 shooter. He's basically gonna get the attempts that Parker and Portis got last year and did very little with. Lauri has been a pretty consistent 36% shooter. LaVine has gotten better shooting every year, and based on preseason and workout videos, I don't see why this year he wouldn't take another step. Satoransky can also shoot, but doesn't take a lot. Coby can go either way. I'm sure he'll be inconsistent, but he's a guy that could shoot a pretty decent percentage.

19th in percentage but 27th in attempts and that’s the issue I have. First, Boylands pace doesn’t allow for a lot of 3s in transition which is what the high volume 3 teams are doing. Second, outside of LaVine are the rest of the 3 point shooters guys who can shoot with a high percentage off the dribble? That’s likely why Satoransky shoots a high percentage but low volume (correct me if I’m wrong). He takes 3s within the rhythm of the offense but not jacking them up necessarily.

Coby 29 points on 14 shots in 23 minutes and Zach 23 on 11 in 25 minutes. Hawks shot 15-34 at the free throw line. How the horsefeathers is that possible? Preseason game or not.

There are some great quotes in here from Lauri lol. He's great in this:

"You're a Bulls fan?" "No? OK."

"We should be fine. Famous last words."

"Oh @#$% here we go again."

coby's got some ben gordon in him

That’s a pretty decent comp. Not sure how that never occurred to me.

Ah, I wouldn't call that a good comp. He has a little Ben Gordon in his game, but they're pretty different players...

Gordon was a much better shooter (especially 3-pt shooting). Coby White is a little taller and a better athlete. Gordon was a 2-guard all the way, but I think Coby could be a scoring PG/combo guard. We'll see how he develops. I'm excited and think our backcourt is solid now.
