I've never been a big fan of April Fool's Day sports teams pranks but this one was well executed. Just plausible enough yet still ridiculous. Much better than the fake "Cutler is coming out of retirement" headline I saw earlier today.

That may have been a real article

Jay Cutler wants to go back to work! Not, like, play football—I don’t think—but he wants to actually apply himself and do something instead of loafing around a Nashville farm all day, building up his chicken reserves. This is a huge change. Recall in the first episode of this show, when Kristin recommended that Jay Cutler get a new job or hobby in retirement and he uttered the most apt, hilarious thing in response: “I’m not really looking to do a lot of work right now. I’m looking to do the exact opposite of that.” Well, now Jay’s looking to do the exact opposite of that!

“You know, I enjoy, like, being around the kids, hanging out with you—like it was fun,” he says to Kristin. “But I do feel like I need to start trying to figure … something out. Just can’t keep picking sticks up.”

And then he adds: “Well, I’ll probably still pick sticks up, but I could pick the sticks up and then go do something.” Please note that while he’s saying all of this, he’s taking an extremely wide stance:

I mean obviously the Bears want to keep pushing this 100 year thing too, so this was just a cheap way to try and drum up easy publicity for that.

Jerseys gonna love one 1 noon start in the first 7 weeks of the season and it’s in London

Week 8 actually. There is a bye in week 6.

RIP Wun Wun

I don't mind the afternoon slot.

4:25 eastern isn't ideal, but at least it's conducive to day drinking and a full night's sleep.

One thing that schedule tells me is it would be a good year to cancel sunday ticket.

I hate non noon kickoffs too and that's more than half the schedule this season.

Saw something interesting that the Bears had a private workout with Josh Jacobs (pretty consensus #1 RB in the draft and late first round projection). You are only allowed 30 of these workouts, and reportedly every other person they brought in had a projection of 3rd round or later. Could mean nothing ultimately but it appears that there is at least some interest in trading back into the 1st round if they can swing it.

Edit: I realize this may be outdated info, I don't follow the pre-draft stuff super closely.

I think it may have a lot more to do with since they don't have any good draft picks this year, they might as well use the visits on somebody.

Or just a "in case he falls" situation.

FWIW, I posted this on another message board right before the 3rd round started

Bears trade the 87th overall pick, and a 2019 5th round pick to the Buffalo Bills for pick 74.

3rd (74)- David Montgomery, RB, Iowa State

4th (126)- Josh Oliver, TE, San Jose State

Bears trade a 2020 4th round pick, and a 2020 5th round pick to the New England Patriots for pick 134

4th (134)- Jimmy Moreland, CB, James Madison

7th (222)- Matt Gay, K, Utah

7th (238)- Ronheen Bingham, Arkansas State

Obviously, the 4th pick just recently went. But damn, missed the trade up by 1 pick
