So basically the officials didn’t know what to do so they ruled it an incompletion!

 

I like how he said no clear recovery in a way like if the Eagles or Bears picked it up, they would've called a fumble instead which means it's a catch in the first place and ball should be on the spot of the fumble for the Bears. You can just see that he didn't want to be the first ref to call that.

I’m honestly relieved that wasn’t a catch and fumble because that would have been dumb as hell and were in virtually the same field position anyway

OK, so allegedly, the rule is that if a pass is ruled incomplete on the field but is actually a catch and fumble, but there is no clear recovery, they can't overrule the incomplete pass at all.
