Might be two extra bases when throw is from the outfield, one in the infield

 

Nope it's always the next base plus an extra, it's just when the throw is from the outfield there's more likely to be a crazy scenario like a runner being back at 1st when the ball gets away and goes out of play.

 

Adding to this. Most times you see an overthrow it's on a play in the infield at first, the runner is almost to first when the errant throw is made, so it looks like he only got one base, but he got first and second.

With how this season has gone I don't expect that to happen and we're probably just going to have to win out but I'd very much enjoy that scenario tomorrow
