Tonight I not only officially embraced not dreading Justin Wilson, but I also have more confidence in him than Carl right now.

Thanks for not going to the game. What are they saying about the weather locally?

Pretty much nonstop rain and thunderstorms at least through Saturday night. I opted to not take up a friend on his tickets in equal part to the weather and my gigantic, stinky jinx.

I have banned my oldest son from games at Wrigley for the rest of the season. He's 0-3. They Cubs have been outscored 28-3 when he's gone to the games.

Lester can go 8 tomorrow in a 15-1 victory. Let Maples come in for mopup duty to rest the pen

How about Lester only going 5 because the Cubs are up 15-1 after 5. They could use a nice blowout win.

Anyone else starting to have more confidence in Justin Wilson? He hasn't given up a run since August 2nd over 15 appearances.

I was very confident he’d get out of the jam he was in.

Very real possibility the entire weekend is rained out. The Brewers are at home so they won't be affected, and the Cardinals are in Detroit where it's not supposed to rain til Sunday. There's 2 off days scheduled the rest of the year, each of the next 2 thursdays, one in between home series, the other in between an Arizona night game and a day game at the Cell. I wonder how they'd handle it, punt to the end of the year to see if they actually need to play the games for the division/home field?

I think this is what they would do. Not 3 of the games but maybe 1 punted to October 1st. Won't matter as Cubs will have division and #1 seed locked up probably just after white sox series

only 1 being punted means playing on both off days, the one in between Arizona/Chicago would be brutal given the start times, and that would also create 21 straight days with a game to end the year. I'd guess they do one between the home series and save the other 2 for if necessary at the end of the year.

That said, I might have exaggerated the possibility of a rainout all 3 days, I'm probably projecting based on the forecast around here, where we're supposed to get like 6+ inches of rain starting tomorrow.

If the Friday/Saturday games get rained out and they can play Sunday, it would be a DH. Then you just have 1 game that I bet they stick at the end of the year, and then it most likely would not get played. I think the only way it gets played is if it affects whether or not the win the division, or the wild card. I’m actually pretty certain that unplayed games are not made up for the sole purpose of playoff seeding.

Move the rest of the series to Wrigley and let the nationals be the home team. That would really piss off the vaunted brewer fans

Isn’t stupid Fallout Boy there this weekend. That would probably make the neighbors happy to not listen to shitty music.

This is my guess too. They'll try like hell to get two games in this weekend, and if they can manage that they'll let the third one go unless it ends up being needed.

I'm actually not even sure they can play a game this Thursday. I think in the CBA there's a max number of days teams can go without an off day and it's right around 25. Unless a rainout counts as an off day (which would be dumb since they still have to come to the park and everything) that'd rule out this Thursday.

I didn't realize that Mojo was your son.

You are right. If I lived in Wrigleyville this weekend, I would probably avoid the area. Fallout Boy is the Sublime of the 2010's
