5-0 in games started by Kershaw, Scherzer, DeGrom x2, And Syndergaard

Awesome because we have Foltynewicz tomorrow and potentially Scherzer and Strasburg next week

And the cardinals and Brewers avoid facing both in their series.

It's a bit shitty that we draw Foltynewicz in a 1 game series against the Braves, but anyways we are missing Nola and Jake in the Phillies series so I won't complain.

The VBs or Cardinals face Scherzer this weekend or next week. VBs are in DC for the weekend and Cardinals go there for the next series starting Monday. Scherzer could go on regular rest Sunday vs the VBs or extra rest Monday vs the Cardinals.

I meant neither will face both in one series like we most likely will.

As I pointed out in the Thor GT, we are best in the league vs velocity this year. So while on paper Folty may be a tough matchup. It might not be too bad for us.

This kind of micro-obsessing over opposing starting pitchers when the Cubs are actually kicking ass is sneakily the doomiest of doom boners.

I don't understand worrying about either the Cards or Brewers. They both suck, and I'm not worried at all about facing either one in the playoffs.

the cardinals don't suck at all, and i want my favorite team to win the division

Your favorite team will win the division. I"m not worried about the Cardinals catching us. Are you?

there is a non-trivial chance that the cardinals win the division. it doesn't matter what i'm "worried" about.

I'll take my chances with "non-trivial" chance. They're 4 games back, and finish the season with the Dodgers, Giants, Braves, Brewers and Cubs.

Nah, it's pretty trivial, dexter. Unless you think it's likely the Cardinals keep playing at this pace for another month.

fangraphs says there's over a 10% chance somebody else wins the nl central, and fangraphs is supposed to be good

well no shart, the cubs are the heavy favorites. i just don't see the point in pretending like the cardinals suck and that it's stupid to be paying attention to them

the cubs are actually sweet now, no need to resurrect the duke meme

Fangraphs says the Cardinals currently have a 7.2% chance to win the division.

For comparison, they have the Yankees with an 8.4% shot.

i don't need context for percentages, my dude

Nah; it's obviously not impossible for the Cardinals to actually win the division, but it really hinges on them continuing to play around a 110 win season-pace if the Cubs can even manage to just be OK the rest of the way. It's trivial, IMO, in the sense that it's likely going to take something like another critical injury on the Cubs to cause that to happen.

It's not hard to keep up. Irrational swagger when the Cubs are playing well, doom boners when they aren't. 7-1 stretch, so swagger it is.

Cold, rational analysis is boring and if you like it then you like cops.

I honestly don't give a horsefeathers about the Cards or Brewers. I just want the Cubs playing well during this stretch run, because I'm superstitious as horsefeathers, and I have this belief (I THINK backed by fact) that teams that stumble into post-season are bounced earlier than teams that roll in hot. If I'm wrong about that, I don't give a horsefeathers. I still want them to play well.

Hey, it's a quality show... Actually, I've never watched a full episode of Cops and only seen parodies, but the intro song is catchy.
