Ultimately he's only about a year ahead of schedule in terms of what I was expecting out of a pitcher of his age singing that contract, but still, it's annoying as horsefeathers, especially since he dressed it up so all of the meatballs could act like he was kicking ass this year.

Lester is 34, it doesn't surprise me that the wheels are coming off. Quintana is the one that bugs me.

Caritini also sucks. Not going in to the year with a better backup C was really dumb. I know it’s a move on the margins and kinda a luxury but it’s not hard to do better than Caritini/Yu’s buddy.

Can we make Mike Borzello the pitching coach after we hopefully can Hickey after the season? I know he was given a lot of credit for Hendricks in 16 so maybe he can fix all these underperformers if given more control

Why?

His stuff is still pretty close to where it’s been the last 2 years here. His command (like with everyone here) sucks and needs to get better. But like I said he’s had awful stretches like this before, I think he’ll figure it out enough to be a ~4 era guy. I don’t think he’s toast/absolutely done.
