Well, as debated as he was, going to be fun to follow Richan's start to his career.

Yeah, a nice little pitching duo tonight between him and Marquez. Will be interesting to watch.

Marquez said to be in the mid-upper 90's, first out of the second was a pop up with a 97 MPH fastball

He struck out the side in the first.

Eugene's twitter has a video up already with all 3 strikeouts in the 1st. Last hitter was caught looking at a 95 mph fastball.

My bad. Last K was swinging.

Marquez got his longest outing of the season in finishing the fourth but did give up a HR. The HRs are why I'm a little skeptical of his prospects as a potential first division SP prospect.

Eddy Martinez hit a HR. He got hot after the SL AA ASG ~35 PAs.

That was his first HR given up this year and didn’t seem to have a problem with them the last two years, what am I missing?

Nothing.

I was at the game in the DSL when Marquez gave up the homer. It was a blooper and all three outfielders ran into each other and it took 20 men to untangle them while the ball was rolling around in the outfield for an inside-the-park homer.

It’s not even his worst post of the day.

He wants to trade Javier Báez to make space for THE Zack Short.

You're telling me you don't want to trade in the 25-year-old hitting .290/.326/.567 in the majors while being an above-average infielder defensively and one of the best base runners in the league for a 23-year-old hitting .236/.358/.431 in AA?

Marquez is done after 6. 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 Ks, 4:3 GO/FO on 77 pitches

Hoerner ripped a 2 out triple for his first xbh at Eugene and then scored on a wild pitch. Nice to see him hitting a ball in the air a bit. He's been burning worms since coming into the system.

Yeah no, this never happened

A wild and crazy DSL HR still doesn’t cover that Marquez wasn’t particularly good last year when there were fences for the ball to go over.

It’s not the end of the world to not have every box checked for a TOR type prospect at a healthy 19. There’s so many roles for pitchers, especially a healhy lefty, that there’s more ways to make an impact.

Why isn’t 3 HR in ~45 good? And 1 in ~55 the year before? Or at least why is that a huge wart and worry?

Short quietly got to .236/.358/.431 after hovering close to .200 a few weeks ago. He still puts lots of balls in the air and plays SS. He must really be believing in himself just in time for summer. I want to believe he can step into the role after a Baez trade.

Don't use his own words against him, man. That's just unfair.

Especially considering he's added several MPHs since last summer.

Come on, guys. Everyone knows players stop developing at 18.
