Those 3 rotation moves are going to crush us going forward

Forget about Harper too

Watching sane posters get crushed under the weight of negativity is interesting. Not criticizing you right now or singling you out. Just interesting

It's the same thing as 2017, more or less.

Not yet....

2017: 16-14

2018: 16-14

What a time to be a Cubs fan. Never thought I'd be so annoyed with being over .500 in early May. When the records are pointed out and they are both above .500 in both seasons, it's just fascinating.

I mean it's too early to say that's what's happening, but it easily could be. We invested a massive amount of resources in darvish/quintana/chatwood and they're completely broken walk machines. Yeah the stuff is fine or whatever, but I don't know how you can not be terrified by what they're doing, and by what ot means for the organization going forward if they dont turn it around in a big way.

Sure but the track record is still there, both for the pitchers and the organization. I’m not saying you can’t be concerned and annoyed and frustrated. I just know how it is when things aren’t going well and you can only think of the most negative outcomes and conclusions. I fight that urge constantly.

The only one we really invested big-time into at this point is Yu.

Eloy still has to become a stud for us to really have invested anything into Q, and Chatwood is on a three-year contract that will be over in a blink of an eye, while really only making No. 4 or No. 5 starter money any way and performing like a No. 4 or No. 5.

Yu for sure has to pick it up. Can't be tanking in the first year of a six-year, $126 million contract. Having two of those guys with Heyward and Yu would suck even for a big market team.

what track record does chatwood have to make you think he’ll be okay? he’s never been able to throw strikes and now he’s worse than ever. as soon as his home run rate stops being fluky low he’s going to be completely unstartable.

Honestly being reactionary in the game thread is cathartic and necessary before venturing onto twitter at some point in the evening.

a month of them pitching like this is plenty of reason to be very concerned. It's not like they're just pitching poorly. they're complete wrecks.

also we invested in darvish and quintana to be good right now. the cardinals have a legitimately good team. they're about to pass us on projected wins. we haven't been super cubs for q couple years, and we no longer have the luxury to dick around for months.

no. eloy was going to be traded for some pitcher. we chose Quintana. it doesn't matter if eloy ends up sucking.

also chatwood's money is not insignificant, especially with Heyward on the books.

I'm not too sure people should be writing off Dylan Cease at this point. If he puts it together, he could be a legit TOR arm. There's a chance the White Sox could get more out of him than the Cubs get out of Quintana if this continues.

Sure I was mostly referring to Q and Darvish. Chatwood is a 5th starter so not too concerned

Good point on Eloy.

Still don't agree on Chatwood. He will be just fine as a back of the rotation guy making $12 per for three seasons.

I dont get the "hes a number 5 starter so it's not a big deal" thing. #5 starters dont typically get paid what he got, and to makes that argument, you have to actually have a 1-4 pitching like a 1-4

Yeah, his track record is basically, "this guy could be OK, maybe." And Yu's also got a track record of a lot of birthdays culminating in turning 32 soon, and of injury issues.

Well, I think the hope is that he's a very solid pitcher, no matter what number in the rotation somebody decides to spot him at. His salary and his years just aren't long enough or large enough for a big market team for me to care about. That, and I don't think he's going to be some black hole.

The gif theme tomorrow should be any movie that deals with the end of the world, Armageddon, or any apocalyptic event.

What’s the quote from Armageddon...”This is who you picked to save the planet” That one for when Wilson comes in.
