I wonder what kind of assurances the next head coach will want to be able to pick another qb over mitch some day. It's gotta be a tough sell to say, "this is your guy you win with him or we move on." We've seen enough to have hope in his future but not every football guy is going to have the same opinion on him that pace had on draft day.

I’d guess not a ton. Pace basically staked his job on Mitch being the Bears QB for awhile. If they hire a coach who gives up on Mitch all the sudden his rope is very thin.

I don't mean right away, but after 2018 if he isn't much better, a coach is going to want the option to start somebody else. And if you don't offer that kind of thing, you aren't getting the best coaching candidate available.

I brought that up before we took a QB. I think aligning a new coach with the QB of his choice was the right way to go.

But, I do think Mitch has shown enough, to where its not going to impair our search either. Plus, you've got lots of cap room, a pretty solid D, and its easy enough to talk yourself into thinking 2 wideouts, an offensive line addition, and a CB could put you back into the playoffs quickly.

49ers are going to win, Bears will be in the 8th spot in the draft. Moves up to 7th in Denver wins vs. KC's 2nd string. Could move to 6th if Tampa wins, as they project to have a 0.001 higher SOS.

I'd love to pick 1 spot ahead of Denver. Be a prime spot to trade down with a team that wants a QB and is afraid Denver could take their guy. Doubt it happens though the Broncos really suck.

Looks like results of other games put the Bears at a higher SOS than Tampa. So them winning did nothing.

Bears will have the 8th pick in the 1st round, but will pick 5th in the 2nd because of the tiebreaker rotation.

It'd be weird to want the Bears job if you don't want Trubisky. And also they'll want Trubisky because he is pretty good.

I'd be worried about a coach who didn't believe they could coach up Trubisky. Not that he is some sure thing, but I want a guy who can adapt to his talent too and not get so narrowed in on a singular QB talent.

I'd be worried about Fangino, honestly. Its setting up like a Ryan/Ditka situation. The Defense is good, is there anyway we keep Vic with a new offensive HC?

Probably not and that's okay.

lets begin the debate: top #8 choice, top 2nd rd choice

#8: Ridley

2nd: Connor Williams, OT, Texas, he'd be a steal here

Yeah, and Bradley Chubb or Josh Rosen would be a steal in the third round. Maybe they can scoop up Saquon Barkley in the fourth to back up Jordan Howard.

I've seen rumors that Williams could fall to the 2nd on WalterFootball. Says that teams value him quite a bit less than mock guys do. Some teams even have mid round grades on him, according to Charlie Campbell.

which is where I got the idea. I want a #1 wr in the worst way. Ridley might do, but getting a solid T in rd 2 would be amazing.

you're an idiot cali

My point in asking is the best candidates may not love mitch, or want to be tied to him.

Which brings me back to: If you feel that way, why do you want the Bears job out of the 15 jobs that are open this offseason?
