Week 8 - Single digit passing attempts team vs. Old Man McGee

Normally I would assume this guy isn't going to play this weekend, given the limited time with the team. He'd get a partial week, then the bye week followed by a regular practice week to get on track for starting Nov 12 against GB. But with this group, he might actually play a little.

i could've sworn i heard some comments from loggains about giving him the bye to get ready or something like that. didn't make it sound like he'd be active this week.

I am indeed desperate for content to make the work day go quicker. Not sure about the quotes; my hater bonafides of these turds are tried and true.

Also: that tweet is obviously hack and dumb and you can still play it off like you posted it here to be rightly mocked.

It was kinda both. Definitely a lot of it was look at this cheesy thing. And yet I still like it bc I'm a sucker fan boy.

This is some combination of the Bears so desperately needing a downfield threat and the Bears playbook currently being so simplistic that one can learn enough of it in 3 days to play.

Well, they still haven't said he'll play, and there's skepticism among some of the beat writers...but they've said he'll make the trip.

So Schefter lead off his "trades I think would be fun" article on ESPN with Bears trading for Martavis Bryant. I hadn't been following the NFL much the last couple years, so I didn't really know much about him. Knew he was struggling a bit this year, had some potential, but didn't care enough about his situation to check out any video. Certainly didn't know he score 8 TDs and had 549 yards on only 26 receptions his rookie year.

But I just watched this video and I think they should get him for sure if it takes something like a 4th/5th rounder or even more if required. He's got one more year on his contract, is fast, and has really good open field skills for 6'4 guy.

Some good spots:

- 0:55 - catches a 10 yard slant at Steelers 20, reverses field and runs away from a crowd for 90 yard TD

- 2:41 - pushes past the corner to make a grab in stride on a fly then turns on the jets

- 3:04 - takes a reverse on left side, cuts it back right, makes a few guys miss and runs away for a 65 yard gain (another good reverses at 3:22 and 1:40)

- Sideline TD tight rope catches: 1:15 and 4:00

This guy catches the ball and runs away from people consistently, has jump ball skills, can navigate traffic and make cut backs, and make catches by the sideline. He's 6'4 and some of those open field runs look like Cohen. He's been a pain in the ass this year for sure, but I don't think you assume he'll be a clown on the Bears. He'd be the unquestioned #1 receiver and could easily get 10 targets a game with nobody batting an eye. And he would fit in well with Meredith, as much more of speed threat while also combining for a tall group.

I don't know that much about his character, but I could see why he'd be frustrated about getting only 5 targets a game (and 5 the last two combined). Bring him here, make him #1, maybe even extend him along with the trade. He'll naturally be happy and excited about his new opportunity, and behave well in the locker room. Then if sometime down the road you get someone better and have to stop getting him 10 targets a game you can worry about his potential bad attitude then.

TL;DR - I'm hoping they get Martavis Bryant. Check out that video!

Either way, I'm excited about Inman. That neck makes him sound taller than he is, but he seems to play very big. Good vertical, catches the ball away from his body. Then seems to run pretty good routes and has some good open field ability for a big guy. If they don't get another WR this year he'll make himself a lot of money as the #1 I'd think. So you're dismissing him out of hand because of the possibility of another failed test?

When his next one is a year long suspension, it definitely plays into things. I brought him up, I'd take a shot on him. But, I'm not giving up a 4th or more. If he's a nuisance and they'd deal him for a 6th or 7th, I'd be in. But, he's not a guy you extend currently. He's definitely a guy you proceed with caution on, especially considering his immaturity that he's showing currently. I love the talent, but I'm not even sure I'd truly want his potential attitude issues around Trubisky.

The next one is Josh Gordon territory. He already did his year long suspension last season. He'll be suspended indefinitely on the next failed test.
