Since people like complaining about there not being a Willson Contreras thread instead of starting a Willson Contreras thread, here is a thread to discuss all things Willson Contreras.

I picked him as my random dark horse candidate to emerge as the leader of this team (whatever such a nebulous thing even means) as time went on, and I seem to recall several people scoffing and saying they saw Schwarber ending up being that dude.

WELL, WHO'S SCOFFING NOW.

...

Clearly this is a thing that matters.

He didn't get his contact up over 60% until 4/26. Since then he's been at 74%.

Since he adjusted his leg kick he's become something like prime Cabrera with a much closer to Iowa Willy K rate of 17%. It doesn't make a lot of sense for this guy to post K rates of 24ish after being at 11 and 13 his last 2 years in the minors, so I'm thinking he will settle in below 20 and thrive in this juiced era or whatever you wanna call it. He's gonna find a lot of barrels.

I want to say it was a playoff game thread....I think?

Hahah! Turns out I was only [expletive] on a Montero quote:

Still...NAILED IT.

Not only is he crushing the ball, it seems to me, and I have no stats to back this up, that he has gotten a lot better behind the plate. Not as many passed balls as earlier in the year.

I feel like he's always been good at blocking. Framing is where he's been less good.

There's so much to like about Willson, too. The energy and passion. The big arm. The bombs he's hitting. The bat flips. It's just a very exciting style of baseball that he plays. Even though it scares the hell out of me every time, even his 120 mph throws to first on dropped third strikes are amazing.

I theorize addison russell having his own thread is what led to his demise so let’s hope you did not turn willson into a lazy jackoff

Nah, he's in good hands here...

Just ignore that I started the Schwarber thread, too.

Yeah, I just checked and he only has 6 passed balls this year. I'm not sure what altered my perception. He is a stud.

If he Rick Wilkins' the rest of his career after this thread, may your virginity remain intact.

Getting real meatbally here...

But, I felt like the social media usage of Miggy and Willson in the off-season told me a lot. Basically every post from Miggy was of him playing golf. And every post from Willson was of him working out or taking swings. Now it could be inauthentic and just for show. And posting work-out videos is rather shallow, so I'm not going to get super meatbally and complain about someone not posting work-out videos. But... I do like the fact that Willson cares so deeply about baseball and making himself a better player.

I know it's meatbally, and I won't defend it.
