Soto and supposedly Ted Lilly did it in 08.

The Cubs have 17 strikeouts in 8 innings and lead 7-2

Rodon kind of got BABIP'd today.

Faced 22 batters, 11 strikeouts, 1 flyout, 3 BB, 7 H. Cubs put 7 balls in play and had 6 hits against him.

what's this exchange they're talking about on the post game between rizzo and lackey?

This is all I could find on twitter:

Wasn't there a bad play Rizzo made on the field in the early innings?

I wouldn't be surprised if Lilly's was vs. the White Sox too. He had that game where he took a no-hitter into the 9th on Sunday night baseball. Can't think of too many other games he would've had 5 AB.

Yeah I think there was a pop up to Rizzo he intentionally dropped or let fall because the infield fly rule was in play and he was trying to trick the runners. Lackey's small, dumb mind probably couldn't comprehend such an advanced thought without explanation

Wasn't that a 1-0 game though? Or something where the Cubs would not have had enough offense for the 9 spot to come up 5 times.

Edit: this was it. 9-2 win over SF

Funny enough, but Hawk didn't understand immediately either. He was happy for a second until Stone said it didn't matter.

To Hawk's credit (first time that's ever been said) he said it was a smart play by Rizzo since you never know if a runner will forget the situation.

“I was probably more aggravated [because] I thought I had me a double-play ball to get out of that thing before he got up there,” Lackey said, referring to shortstop Russell covering on a steal attempt as a ball was hit through his vacated spot for a one-out single. “Usually, the second baseman covers on that play.

“Things happen"

Bad things happen when you groove first pitch fastballs, John. The whole league knows they're coming.
