Would anyone believe me if I said that I said Jimenez was the next big thing in the system to an employee of the Cubs in 2015?
Why wouldn't anyone believe you? He was the number 1 overall international free agent. And unless that employee was a hot dog vendor, most Cubs employees were thinking the same thing.

Now if you told them, like you wrote here last year, that Kellogg would be better than Clifton, that would be a bold, unbelievable prediction.

Remember when it was a thing that I was saying Clifton > Underwood?

As the Cubs are sharp I would imagine actually being called the next big thing in a second/third pro season requires a little more than being the top 7/2 16 YO international FA from that one time. As grand and storied a title that is, probably something else needs to have happened two years later. Plus the Cubs had some SS, from that same 7/2 group, getting all the attention in full season ball that year.

You're right. I give. You're greatest baseball Nostradamus since...well, Nostradamus when he foretold what many believe was the sport of baseball itself in 1564 with the famous quatrain:

In the great new land,

the diamond will sparkle with stars,

and hold the multitudes transfixed,

with awe and wonder.

Yep, that's about where that was going.

Yet another prediction come true after the fact. You're good you.

The hits keep on coming

I know. You're amazing. You even knew I was going to write about Nostradamus before I did it. That's spooky good. You see everything coming.

Underwood's been pretty unpopular on this board for some time due to his low K rates and injuries.

He'd also been popular due to tools scouting reports upside ceiling, not even so long ago. I'd say he became outright unpopular maybe a year now, give or take a couple months on either side.

You know NSBB, all about the tools and never stats.

Well that is the implication in having opinions about baseball prospects probably, undoubtedly even. You might be onto something here.

One day, if you work really hard at it, I mean really hone your craft, you might be able to predict that someone expected to be really good like the number one overall international free agent will be really good WITHOUT publicly patting yourself on the back for it.

Arizona Phil[/url]"]Amaya's HR was his team-leading 3rd long-ball, and with three more hits in the game he is now hitting a robust 339/411/581 in 23 Cactus League EXST games (73 PA). In addition to leading the team in HR, Amaya also is second on the team in RBI and tied for 4th in doubles, he has thrown out 47% of opposing base-stealers (12-26), picked-off another runner, and has committed only one passed ball and one error as a catcher (he also committed an E-3 while playing 1B). No question Miguel Amaya has been MVP of the EXST Cubs (so far), and it's getting to the point where it would be a shock if the 18-year old wunderkind doesn't skip AZL and go directly to Eugene.

CUBS LINEUP:

1. Aramis Ademan, SS: 0-4 (4-3, 4-3, F-7, E-6)

3. Miguel Amaya, 1B: 3-4 (1B, HR, 3-U, 1B, R, 2 RBI)

2. Jose Albertos: 2.1 IP, 0 H, 1 R (1 ER), 4 BB, 1 K, 3 WP, 4/2 GO/AO, 52 pitches (27 strikes)

Jose Albertos 2017 Cactus League EXST game stats (thru 5/27)

5 GAMES

3.65 ERA - 1.70 WHIP - .265 OppBA

12.1 IP, 9 H, 7 R (5 ER), 12 BB, 4 K, 1 HBP, 4 WP, 4 GIDP, 21/6 GO/AO, 52% strikes, 18.0 pitches-per-inning

NOTE: FB velocity has been 93-96 (went up a tick or two the last two outings), CV has excellent spin, and CH has been good, too. He has been keeping the ball down in the zone and as a result has been getting a ton of ground balls (including four GIDP in twelve innings), but he continually bounces pitches in front of the plate, and he doesn't throw strikes consistently (ergo only four strikeouts, but also twelve walks, a HBP, and four WP, the ugly 52% strike rate, and high a PPI that would average 90 pitches for every 5.0 IP).
