the only thing i'm disappointed about is not getting off to a torrid start like last year where it seemed like we might break the win record

Oh is that all

i don't really know what this reply means, but yes, that's all

This thread is probably tame compared to what's going on in Theo's head

Probably more like what's going on in his office. Some stuff probably needs to be replaced on Monday.

Probably not, since Theo isn't a reactionary moron.

You basically said "the only thing that is disappointing is that we aren't playing historically good baseball"

theo being mad about crappy games doesn't mean he's a "reactionary moron". you're just venting about the frustrating losses in a different way.

Really? From all I've ever read he gets pissed off at a ton of stuff.

Theo absolutely flies off the handle from time to time

Read the Wright Thompson profile from last season

Easy day for Pittsburgh media. Game story wrote itself with Tallion coming up huge in the B7 and his guys then responding.

This series had to be awesome for Pirates fans.

Just like the first game of the year for St Louis, it will probably be the highlight of their season.

I'd be happy not to see the Pirates again for quite some time. I feel sorry for the Brewers - they aren't gonna know what hit them.

That would be cool. But I'm not sure that's the way baseball works.

Teams can't galvanize under adversity? So the entire storyline of the 2016 World Series Game 7 is hogwash? I'm sure the Cubs are pretty upset with themselves and I can see an unleashing of dongs coming.

I just don't see baseball as one where you physically impose your will on someone like perhaps football.

Talent wins out more than not, but the Cubs aren't coming out tomorrow more determined to hit the ball harder or pitch better than they were the day before. If it was that easy, they could go on 15-game winning streak any time they want.

The World Series story isn't total hogwash but they ended up winning that game more because

-they had Schwarber, Bryant, Rizzo coming up in the 10th

-they were facing a guy who had thrown 14 pitches in the 9th (and had thrown 73 already in the series in 3 appearances) before sitting during the bottom of the ninth plus the rain delay

than because Heyward gave a motivational speech during the delay.

I know my rep around here isn't exactly sterling but man

This offense looks terrible right now. It's OK to admit that. In fact, it's OK to criticize it. They are not prepared to hit baseballs hard. 2 anomalous (for this season) performances does not a strong offense make.

That said, we'll be there in the end, with another division title.

But it's OK to call a spade a spade. These guys are not hitting consistently enough to strike fear in anybody.
