They will have mobile ticketing now through the at bat app, however.

Hopefully they improve the cell coverage around the park during games, or else this might turn into a [expletive]. Obviously, you should be able to load stuff before you get there, but GL expecting everyone to have the foresight to do that while they're getting drunk before the game. My data coverage in or right by Wrigley during games has sucked just about regardless of provider (like so bad that I can't even load Tweets or a simple web page).

It also helps the Cubs gain more control over the secondary market, too. While the initial mobile entry offering won't have it, the team will have the ability to add features like delayed delivery in the future, in which fans wouldn't actually have their tickets delivered to their accounts until the day of a game or the day before. That could dissuade people from being able to re-sell seats on the secondary market at prices the Cubs might not like.

Also, if they actually did this, I can't imagine what it would do to the STH base. Expecting them to use or give away all tickets to 81 games would drastically change who owning ST would make any sense for.

How am I supposed to sell 90% of my tickets if the people I scalp them to can't print them off a computer?

I know this is a jokey post but...

For now, Cubs fans will still be able to re-sell tickets on resale marketplace sites like StubHub by providing the bar code information from a hard copy or mobile ticket. But the ability to download a ticket purchased on a secondary site and print it off is gone.

Faulkner said eliminating the print option will help more fans get comfortable with the mobile entry experience, just as many have for other things like scanning tickets at airports.

"Mobile adoption for many teams so far has been fairly low. But I think you're instantly going to up that percentage by a lot," he said.

StubHub is an official partner, so I'm sure there will be some sort of mobile transfer option when you put those barcodes in (or for STH, I'm guessing it'll still all be automatic).

Has anybody actually used the At Bat app for this? I presume you can have more than one ticket on the same phone? Would I just swipe to bring up the next ticket to scan, or my son for example?

This is inconvenient as horsefeathers.

EDIT: my question was answered by the screenshot of the app in the article. Still not a fan of this.

That's how it works on airline apps when I've flown with my daughter. I'd imagine it'll be a similar process here.

I go to quite a few Kings games here in LA and they have gone to the flash seats app for all season ticket holders...made it much more difficult to sell on the secondary market ...Tickets holders hate it and so do Staples Center employees ...all in the name of keeping as much of the money within the organization

FYI - This change in ticketing is only for single-game tickets. Season ticket holders will still get traditional paper tickets mailed to them. I purchased two 14-game ticket packs, and I will be receiving them in the mail in February. (I also had the option of picking them up at the box office in March.) The 14-game ticket pack had no instant, print-at-home, or mobile options.

The change is about the PDF tickets that you download and print being eliminated, not the hard tickets. Anyone can still buy traditional paper hard copy tickets, even for single games.

So I'm shopping for 6 tickets to a Cubs game in June. Was about to buy some from StubHub, but it says the delivery method is "Instant download: Ready to download and print within minutes."

Anyone know how this will work?

Well when you connect to the Internet, you can download documents. Then, if you have access to a printer, you can then send that document to the printer which turns it into a piece of paper you can physically take with you.

AKA the specific method the Cubs eliminated which prompted this thread.

Yeah, I'm assuming there's some missing update to the language there and maybe you need the MLB app from there or something.

Let us know what happens if you buy them.

I know that for the playoffs last year, the Cubs weren't letting me print my own tickets. My STH rep told me to work around it (because I wanted to keep our ticket sheet in tact) by emailing them to myself as though I was forwarding them to another person.

So maybe they're just eliminating print at home for STH and people who buy directly? I have no horsefeathering idea.

That or StubHub needs to update its site.

I asked Stubhub on twitter and they said that I would just show my electronic ticket through the StubHub mobile app when I get to Wrigley.

Makes sense, the tickets I always printed off StubHub were identical to the ones that are now being shown in the app.

what is everyone freaking out about? We do this in Denver for most concerts and it's easy peazy. Unless you're 80 years old, ornery, and don't know how to use simple technology.

not sure about freaking out, the question was if the tickets say print at home how do you use in a non print at home situation.
