The article I read this morning stated it would be removed on 1/25, so this would at least seem to suggest he will be healing up more quickly.

On Monday, Long removed himself from a scooter and sat in front of his locker to speak with reporters. His outstretched right right foot was in a cast as his broken ankle recovers from surgery more than a month ago. It will be removed on Jan. 25, when he can walk for the first time since being helped off the field in Tampa Bay in November after his ankle was rolled up. One day later, Long is expected to have surgery to repair a torn labrum.

i still have no idea why kyle long blocked me

my most recent tweet at him was a sarcastic tweet that i think was about lebron against the bulls in the 2015 playoffs after he tweeted about his mental toughness.

End of year Press Conference tomorrow. Seems a given Fox is returning, but will there be any changes to his assistants?

there's virtually no way they don't have turnover. At the very least the special teams coach needs to go. They were dreadful, especially returning kicks. The OC probably needs an upgrade but they should throw out Fox. You can't go 2 years in the NFL going backwards. This isn't MLB where you draft guys that may take 3-6 years to reach the majors.

i was hoping they'd at least get rid of loggains and bring in mccoy, but it seems like even fangio being ousted is more likely than that.

The idea of Fangio being the fall guy is really weird, but I guess would just confirm the rumors of conflict between him and Fox.

The Loggains situation is interesting. Not sure what outside top candidates they could actually attract (given any external candidates are allowed to interview). It could really be a wait and see approach where Loggains isn't fired by tomorrow, but is let go if a better option presents itself. Any offensive assistants from recently fired HC staffs could even still be hanging in the balance for a few weeks as they are still under contract as they wait for their new HC to determine their future. Unless you want to raid the college ranks, you're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place when you aren't offering up what will be an attractive job.

Why is Jimmy freaking Garoppolo being talked about with a 1st rounder plus in return? What a brilliant marketing plan by the Patriots.

Patriots are amazing. The draft at a strength that nearly every other team is weaker at and use the riches to continue to be rich. It's brilliant resource management. Garoppolo isn't worth anything close to a 1st rounder, and yet some team very well may get desperate enough to pull the trigger

and professional mouthpiece schefter bases his valuation on the fact that a desperate Vikings team gave up a 1 and 4 right before the season when they lost their QB in a move that was universally mocked and turned out awful for them.

Not sure where I read it today, but someone said Garoppolo could net a 3rd Round pick, with a conditional pick the following year that could range from a 1st to a 4th, based on performance.

I think that's reasonable, at least. I'd prefer to stay away from him though and let the Pats fleece someone else.

Leonard Floyd joining Alshon with the Super Bowl guarantee.

Is this the just standatd denial phase of greiving for a 3-13 team?

Also, first coaching shoe to drop. Stan Drayton will not be back as RB coach (not clear if he left on his own or not- most likely his contract was up as he was hired in 2015).

seems crazy that the Bears are the only Chicago sports team that I haven't seen win a championship (well I was just over 1 year old for Super Bowl XX so there's a chance I may have watched it but whatever.)

I was getting legally drunk during that game. Damn I'm old.

There's video of me as a 2 year old dancing to the Super Bowl Shuffle. And I remember not knowing about the pads and thinking the football players were just super human giants. That's about the extent of my relationship with that team.

Pinnacle of being a Bears fan for me was 06, obviously.

2010-12 had their moments, too.

I was 9 when the Bears won, but I didn't get into football until much, much later, and I don't remember watching it.

I was into the Bears even at 9 years old, but there weren't many fond memories of those teams outside of watching Butkus and Buffone. I did like Bobby Douglass as a QB, but probably because he was left handed and would take off running a lot, and I didn't know much about football then.

I may have to start a petition to make you the new recipient of Fred's old man jokes :)
