how often did you all eat deep dish pizza while living in chicago? i grew up eating thin crust pizza way more often than deep dish.

that's the case for me and everyone i know. like i mentioned, i usually wind up eating it maybe once a year. that maybe doubled or tripled when i lived by a malnatis in the city while my niece was working there, but only because it was free.

Same here. We'd get deep dish maybe twice a year but thin crust at least a couple times per month.

Same, Rosati's was much more a part of my life than Giordano's or Malnati's.

Art of Pizza is definitely the way to go with deep dish though. I don't know if it's the best, but the ability to order by the slice instead of committing to a whole pie is really great.

This is strangely relevant for both discussions in this thread

We got Harper Thursday night at LAX ... and threw some questions out at him trying to crack the case, and while he was noncommittal on some, when it came to FOOD he definitely has some cities in mind.

"Favorite food? Probably Chicago. They got great food. I like this place called Steak 48, it's really good. Deep dish of course. Anywhere in New York of course you know you can always go out there and eat good food. That's huge for us."

This was posted this morning so I'm not sure why it says Thursday night.

I'm taking bets as to which poster is actually Harper in disguise.

My thin crust to Deep dish ratio is probably 10-1. They are equally delicious, the problem for me anyway is that after I eat deep dish I go into a Thanksgiving like coma afterwards so I don't eat it as much.

This is probably grounds for suspension but deep dish pizza* is terrible. Boiling hot inside with extra bread is a terrible way to do pizza

*I’ve had it once and burned my tongue

do you think the majority of us who consume the stuff maybe 1-2 times a year really care that much

you chicago guys have no idea how exotic real deep dish pizza is to outsiders. when i took my wife to chicago in april, the look on her face after she saw/tasted the pizza we got was hilarious. i have definitely never pleased her to that level
