The Bears are a 3.5 point underdog to the Titans, which were a joke of a franchise up until about week 5 this year. And they have been alternating wins and losses ever since.

The Bears are a mess. Not a lot of good players, a whole bunch of injured players.

David Fales is back. He was Trestman's pet project and once the canadian nerd was fired from Baltimore, Fales future was in doubt. But you can always count on the Bears to have a desperate need for QB depth late in a season.

To my dearest, Jay Cutler:

This is the end

Beautiful friend

This is the end

My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end

Of everything that stands, the end

No safety or surprise, the end

I'll never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be

So limitless and free

Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand

In a...desperate land

Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain

And all the children are insane

All the children are insane

Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

There's danger on the edge of town

Ride the King's highway, baby

Weird scenes inside the gold mine

Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake

To the lake, the ancient lake, baby

The snake is long, seven miles

Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best

The west is the best

Get here, and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is callin' us

The blue bus is callin' us

Driver, where you taken' us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on

He took a face from the ancient gallery

And he walked on down the hall

He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he

Paid a visit to his brother, and then he

He walked on down the hall, and

And he came to a door...and he looked inside

Father, yes son, I want to kill you

Mother...I want to...horsefeathers you

C'mon baby, take a chance with us

C'mon baby, take a chance with us

C'mon baby, take a chance with us

And meet me at the back of the blue bus

Doin' a blue rock

On a blue bus

Doin' a blue rock

C'mon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end

Beautiful friend

This is the end

My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free

But you'll never follow me

The end of laughter and soft lies

The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

But this time, when they clean house, they'll REALLY REALLY REALLY mean it and somehow inexplicably hire the right people.

I think they will keep Pace. By no means has he been an unquestioned success but I don't think he's been terrible enough to lose his job. With regards to the draft, the White pick is going to look bad until he plays enough to be evaluated. But when tehy've been on the field Goldman and Amos look like keepers, Grasu didn't look that great in his rookie year but the Bears liked him enough to be the starter going into this year. Langford is a depth RB but at least showed flashes.

Then this year the floyd pick was considered a risk and he has shown considerable promise. I haven't heard much complaining about Whitehair so he must be doing well. I honestly cant remember anything about the rest of the picks outside of Howard, just haven't been paying enough attention. And as for Howard, he looks like a Pro Bowl caliber RB so far.

FA has been a mixed bag as it always is. McPhee has been great when healthy, Freeman is one of the highest rated LB in the league this year. Hicks has been solid and I think Trevathan has as well, although maybe not up to expectations.

There have been mistakes for sure, but not enough where I'd consider completely cleaning house.

Keeping Pace is almost a must, considering the dangers of falling into the massive overhaul every 2 years. I can't imagine the coaching staff surviving intact, and there has to be a good chance that Fox is part of that change. I think with as poorly as this season has gone, the most obvious choice is for Pace to get his one head coach mulligan. Let him make that change and theoretically build the staff he wants, without the tumult of his first year on the job. That gives him 2 more years and if he can't figure out how to make this team respectable by then, there's no excuse from there.

Pace has been disappointing, but he's been competent. Fox has been a disaster and he's old so might as well move on.

All in all, I am pretty pleased with this year's draft. Whitehair, Howard, and Floyd all look like starters, and I think I like Deiondre Hall too. I have White written off as a complete bust, but at least, as UM mentioned, Goldman came out of that draft too. They've done well in FA, too.

Fox seems completely incompetent at game management, and his supposed strength outside of that is nowhere to be found. He also is an ass bag. I just wish we could keep continuity on defense with Fangio without looking incompetent by forcing him on another HC, or making him an HC, which I don't think he's qualified for (nor do I want another defensive guy). Ugh.

My feelings on Fangio is he would have to be doing a much better job and/or be much younger, for me to worry about losing him in any coaching change situation.

Since going to the Fox/Fangio set up, the Bears have prioritized defense, acquiring 7,000 linebackers, as well as 5 of their first 6 picks last year were defense. And all we have to show for it is the defense looks competent most of the time.

I say you fire Fox and then figure out Fangio's future after you hire the next HC. If he stays, he stays, and if he goes he goes. So be it. But it's not like this guy is working miracles over here and can't be replaced.

works for me, as long as they don't hire a 4-3 guy to DC or something after spending 2 years gearing the roster toward a 3-4.

do we have any idea as to who the bigger HC candidates this offseason are going to be?

Lets hire Josh McDaniels and then let him get rid of Cutler for a second time.

But seriously, if we are looking for a HC in the offseason, would you prefer us going after an offensive type coach or a defensive coach? I could depend on whether Fangio is likely to stay.

Kyle Shanahan, Falcons OC and obviously Mike's son

Josh McDaniels, Patriots OC

Harold Goodwin, Cards OC

Matt Patricia, Patriots DC

Darrell Bevelled, Seattle OC

Is it terrible that a part of me wants to go with Shanahan and keep Jay

I don't want the next qb starting until the O line is 1000% better so I definitely want jay next year.

But that ship has probably passed.

Romo as a stopgap is my guess

No stopgap. Gonna have a top 3 pick. Pick a guy and spend about 10M less on a backup.

Yeah, you're right. I just hate throwing the rookie out there, no matter how often its done now.

Is one of these guys gonna be worth that investment?

Watson certainly won't be. Maybe Kizer?

But I'd rather get the best player, especially when you've got a chance at a Myles Garrett, Jonathan Allen or Jabrill Peppers.

This. If they get a top 3 pick, then they have a chance of getting one of Garrett, Allen, or Kizer. Now a lot can change leading up to the draft and someone else jump up there (maybe ND LT if he decides not to return, for example?). I also like the idea of trading down to get more picks as they will have quite a few needs and to get more depth, but I have a hard time accepting an offer when one of the 3 I mentioned above will be available.

Think Romo ends up in Denver
