I've had an internal struggle to accept an exit without the ultimate victory since the playoffs started. On top of this, my state of zen bliss has been unparalleled. I think we all knew this would happen. We know what those Boston boys did. It was magic. We watched through two rounds with a little fret and a subtle sweat. Without a doubt a glorious ride, and also a show of swift force. We entered wanting them to submit and desiring a quick fix. Instead the friendly confines became a dour place of futility and that feeling we all prepared for was embraced like an old friend. And yet it really wasn't. We all knew. Here, at the end, the moment had arrived. All that remained was winning.

I hope Joe West catches some flack for his actions during and after Strop's last batter.

i've seen numerous current and former mlb players tearing into him on twitter. it seems they hate him as much as us fans do.

WHERE THE horsefeathers WAS THAT, JOE???

having joe west umpire a world series game is like if the cubs decided to start brian matusz or that buchanan guy in the world series.

Hey, Buchanan was good that outing if i remember correctly. haha

This is probably too much info, but my 2nd son was conceived during the Blackhawks parade last summer while we were in Chicago. He was born on March 12th this year (3/12). 312 also of course Chicago's area code and the name of a beer at Goose Island where we happened to be that morning after touring Wrigley.

Pretty damn cool the Cubs have a chance to win it his first year of life.

The game recap at letsgotribe reads like a eulogy.

i'm sure they're bummed, but if i were in their position i'd have some confidence going in with an excellent starting pitcher who had already won two games, plus two excellent relievers who can pitch a minimum of 4 innings. there's reason for both teams to feel like they can win tomorrow, which is why the odds are basically a coin flip.

It sounds like a washing machine that's off its axis or something.

Oh, I totally expect the game to be a dogfight that could go either way.

Holy horsefeathers.

Well, time to walk around in a blur for 20 hours. Good luck tomorrow, guys. Yikes.

I hope you endure the day well, but remember what's in store for you guys...

Hey, I'll be destroyed with a Cleveland loss, but I will be legitimately happy for you guys. The Cavs title brought me so, so much happiness. LBJ coming back, the Kevin Love narratives, golden state's perfect season, the unexpected comeback. It was the most amazing sporting memory I'll ever have. I want you guys to lose by a lot, but knowing a great fan base gets to feel that same thing will give me something to take solace in. And, if you guys don't win, it'll happen in this core's playing days. They're so good, and so fun to watch when you're not playing them (and they're hitting).

Let's all go throw up and play extras tomorrow. Good luck! :hello:

Honestly, I wish we were playing any other AL team. I've always liked Cleveland. And I hope you stick around here again. But EXTRAS? No. No man. No. I want a blowout win, but I'd legit rather get beat bad, than lose a nailbiter.

Points moo though. Cuz we ain't losin'.

I love how the Cubs hung on through this playoffs just long enough for KB and Rizzo to get hot at the same time

Having Schwarber second in the order = Brizzo magic.

For anyone curious

Chapman on 0 days rest this year after throwing 20+ pitches the day before, including postseason:

5.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 9/0 K/BB, 0 HR

The one outing with a run was in Coors Field, and was his 4th outing in 4 days(both games of a double header, day off, 24 pitch outing, then that outing).

If you expand it to throwing 15+ pitches the day before:

14.2 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 21/2 K/BB, 0 HR
