My predictions for tonight:

1.) Joe West calling the game hurts us less than it hurts the Indians. Did you see how polite Rizzo was with Angel Hernandez? When you've got an egotistical guy behind the plate, you need to be deferential. The Indians batters have been much more acid-tongued. One of them is going to get tossed tonight.

2.) Heyward comes up in a big spot and makes something happen.

3.) At least one dong from the triumvirate of Bryant, Rizzo, and Schwarber. Maybe more.

I wish the schedule layed out so that we could switch Hendricks and Arrieta around with both on full rest.

West and his tiny strike zone seems like a nightmare umpire for an Arrieta/Tomlin matchup. Is there a website that shows a pitchers performance with specific umpires behind the plate.

I just don't understand how his performance warranted a World Series job.

I think he's retiring after this year. Lots and lots of cheeseburgers and beer between his QB days and now.

I'd say one each

Was West the guy Arrieta got into a shouting match with maybe in August or so?

Yeah not sure where that or "Country Joe" came from. But he was a star quarterback in college.

Pretty sure he put out a country album (song?) back in the 80's or so.

There hasn't been a player ejected from a World Series game since 1987 and only 3 since 1934 and none of them were hitters ejected for calling balls and strikes. I'm not saying that it won't happen but I'm guessing a player would have to do something really glaring to get ejected from a World Series game.

I think it's either that or swap Addy and Willly.

West is the asshat who tossed Joe after Kyle lost his no hitter in the 9th. We had to get Chapman loose so Joe took a little extra time and West made it about himself.

Neither Arrieta or Tomlin pitched with West behind the plate this year, so not sure if there's much to take away other than that West couldn't derail SuperJake.

That heatmap is promising though, Arrieta is way more likely to try to bust righties inside(even though he'll only face 2-3), and if Tomlin can't get low fastballs called a strike then a diving curveball is easier to lay off. In general a tighter zone slightly favors the Cubs too, who have a more patient and powerful offense and the starter with better stuff.

That's highly encouraging for Jake.

I need more like this to stem the roiling cesspool of terror that's been churning in me all day.
