Short week to recover from a classic John Fox statement game:

punt inside opponents side of field, let them drive down field, hold tight to a 2 score lead and keep timeouts in your pocket as you refuse to try to score more and eventually lose

Last year's team lost a lot of games where they actually looked halfway decent. That fooled some people into thinking this team had a chance to win a lot of games this year but their weaknesses have been fully exposed, from top to bottom. The Bears are in full "it's best to lose to increase their draft position" mode but the GM is 0-2 with first round picks and we are almost certain to need a coaching staff turnover before this team starts winning again (if ever).

The big thing to keep an eye on, besides if Cutler returns, is this game coincides with game 5 of NLCS and the next one falls between a theoretical game 5 and 6 of the World Series.

Also Bears are 9 point underdogs against a team that may be on the outside looking in come playoff time.

Now THIS is fun bad:

The Bears are 25th in the NFL in the red zone, scoring touchdowns on just 47.37 percent of their trips inside the opposing 20. In yesterday’s loss to the Jaguars, they found the end zone once on four trips, settling for three field goals. In the previous week’s loss at Indianapolis, they settled for four FG attempts against two touchdowns. In related news, the Bears are 1-5. But what if—hear me out here—what if the Bears scored more touchdowns?

There's a small part of me that feels fortunate we lost last night so I know have baseball to watch instead of this. Especially with 70% packer fan friends

Hopefully this will be the pennant clinching game for the Cubs, and I won't even know this game was played

On one hand I cant believe they ran this story. On the other, it sums up my feelings on both topics quite well.

Eh, I'm just tired of the narrative. If you're going to stick with Cutler, then get a coach / scheme to maximize his abilities. Jon Fox was a disastrous hire for that. And if you are going with Fox, draft a horsefeathering qb, get Cutlers replacement. Pick a horsefeathering direction.

Eh, its less about "sticking with Cutler" for me. Its well past the point of building around him, and as soon as theyve ID'd a real replacement Im okay cutting ties.

I agree with everything, chili without beans is for the weak, just like football w/o touchdowns.

Chili without beans is basically just beef stew. It's a crime whenever someone tries to serve it to people expecting delicious chili.

Chili without beans is only acceptable when it's being used on a hotdog.

but then you're ruining the hot dog

What kind of monster are you that you don't like chili dogs?
