Isn't what he's saying obvious?

I fail to see how Montero over Willy in the Bumgarner game is a good thing

horsefeathers how meatbally it might seem, i don't want anyone but montero catching arrieta in the playoffs

and with how well he's been hitting (even if it is a lefty) it's enough for me not to care that much about same handed matchup in for a few ABs

Fair enough, I'd be fine doing it if they feel it will really make a difference for Jake. I don't give a horsefeathers how well Montero looked in a limited sample on top of facing a LHP with his history vs them, I hope the "hot hand" theory isn't the reason for starting him.

Also if Bumgarner leaves some of those FB up in the zone in game 3 like he did tonight I feel like whichever of Georgie/Javy is getting a start that game will do something very bad to one of them

was envisioning georgie putting those on the street earlier

I don't know how far away the nearest street is behind the walls at AT&T Park, but I'm pretty sure it would set a record for distance of a HR ever hit.

i'm not saying it overrides everything or is hugely important, but it's a lot more than a hot hand. he made a mechanical adjustment and has looked appreciably better since. to me, there's more to it than if he were just hitting better lately.

Any thoughts that all the high fastballs were to exploit a particular weakness in the Mets' hitters? I have a feeling there would be a pretty different approach against the Cubs.

Man, that's too bad the Mets lost last night. I could have sworn they were going to beat us, since their fans "weren't afraid of us."

Oh well, it looks like we'll have to beat that other shitty squad that was 30-42 in the second half.

Running NLCS to 0-5, losing however many World Series in a row. And that is before we get to the possibility of heartbreaking chokes and crushing sweeps.

Stop, stop; your doom boner can only get so erect.

something something in your mouth

How dare you. I have standards.

how the horsefeathers is this fun for you

take SVP's advice

Javy becoming the next Leon Durham or Alex Gonzalez. 100 Bartman references. Bryzzo going 0-fer and developing a reputation as chokers. Knowing that even if next year's team wins 115, every article about them will ask if they can really hack it in the postseason. Arguments that we don't have a "true ace."

Holy hell you're insufferable. Is this a shtick or is this actually how your mind works?

Pretty sure it's both.

He may only have a few posts, but he's not a newbie.

They're already talking about Bumgarner going Saturday on three days rest, and then presumably going game 5 too, which means they'd probably throw Cueto in game 4 on short rest. If that's what you think you have to resort to in order to have a chance, well...good luck.

High of 70 on Friday and high of 68 on Saturday. Dong them into oblivion the first two games while the defense shuts down their feeble attempts at offense, and Jake will take advantage of whatever they call Safe-Co now and shut them down in game three to end this even year [expletive] and reignite God mode.

Yeah, not my best opening sentence. I was following the Fangraphs chat yesterday and Cameron and the other guy both thought that would be the case, but they were thinking about it as starting on three days, so maybe all of us were off. For Bumgarner to pitch twice in this series, he's going to need to pitch on two days rest at least once. If that happens, I'm not super concerned.

Bochy will ride the horsefeathers out of Bumgarner and probably Cueto too. I really wouldn't be surprised at all if those were the only 2 guys to get starts

pitching someone on 3 days rest is already pretty much always a bad idea...you wouldn't be surprised if he went 2 days rest (not to mention coming off a 119 pitch start)? has that even been done ever?
