Out of curiosity, with Ramos and Murphy in the lineup, but no Strasbourg in the rotation, who would you have rather played in a potential NLCS, the Dodgers or Nats?

I would have rather played the Nats then, and obviously now. The Dodgers pitching terrifies me if they are able to throw Kershaw, Hill, Maeda and Urias at us. I still like our odds especially with Soler in the LA games, but I like them more against Washington.

the dodgers scare me a lot and not just because i think my friend's weird Illuminati numerology crazy talk might somehow come true

Mets are now 94% to take a wild card and have a magic number of two. Looks like a pretty safe bet we won't have to face Thor twice in the NLDS, at least.

Anyone know how the GIants rotation situation is lining up?

Right now according to ESPN it's Cueto tomorrow (Thursday), Bumgarner Friday, Suarez Saturday, and Moore Sunday. So Bumgarner is lined up to go in the WC game, then Cueto game 1 of the DS (assuming he's healthy), with Shark or Moore (if they don't need him Sunday) game 2, Bumgarner game 3, Shark/Moore game 4, Cueto/short rest Bumgarner game 5.

If Cueto's groin were to act up tomorrow we could see something like, Bumgarner in WC, Shark game 1 of DS, Suarez or Moore (if not used Sunday) game 2, Bumgarner game 3, Suarez/Banged up Cueto/Moore game 4 and Shark/banged up Cueto/short rest Bumgarner game 5.

Apparently Terry Collins is considering starting Syndergaard Sunday (for HFA in the Wild Card Game!) so two starts in the NLDS isn't out of the question yet.

I just refuse to believe he'll be allowed to do anything that stupid even if he winds up wanting to, so I won't acknowledge that as a possibility.

Mets then Washington ....Dodgers series will be a bitch with a rested Kershaw ...hope Hill has blister issues again and our guys do what they have done all year

would be pretty nice if we had been the ones to get hill and then we could throw him and lester at the dodgers in a playoff series instead of having to face him but oh well

Someone resell me on wanting the Mets. Regardless of relative talent you never want to face the hottest team and the Mets are probably that team, on a 27-12 stretch during which they've allowed the least runs in baseball and have 2 scorching hot hitters in Cabrera and Granderson.

I know the schedule has been light but they are playing very good baseball and probably have a ton of confidence.

It took all that to even get the Mets competitive. Before that stretch, the Mets were a below .500 team with a negative run differential with all their starters healthy. Now Bartolo Colon is their second best starter and their offense is not good.

I still think id rather avoid the team that's playing the best. But this is just UMFan having too much idle time to worry I'm guessing

I say the Cubs were just a year too early and they surrender now and try again next year and hope that they're the best team at the end of the season.

Awwwww, horsefeathers buttons, the Nats, Dodgers and Giants are all 6-4 in their last 10, while the Cubs and Mets are both 7-3! I can't tell who's hotter! EXPAND THE ARBITRARY ENDPOINTS, STAT.

By that mindset it will be impossible to avoid them since they are apparently the best team and you're talking like the best team must win.

That seems like a bit of a stretch based on what I said. The thread is about which team we would rather play to maximize our chances of winning, not which unstoppable force is going to take down the Cubs
