Some called for the tournament to be played online, but that was a non-starter: the classical chess community is traditionalist, and the in-person encounter is considered an integral part of the game...

 

Yeah, I enjoy playing Chess online with friends, but you could never play these kinds of tournaments online. Never happening. Everyone knows baseball is considered old-school in its norms and traditions, but the Chess community is even more old-school by comparison.

Eh, I'm not going to debate whether chess is or isn't a sport...

 

It's a challenging game/hobby/profession and easy to learn, but incredibly hard to master. It also requires a crazy amount of stamina and mental endurance at the top levels of play.

Btw, the chess app has a chat feature. I seriously doubt anyone cares about the events of our games...

I saw you were messaging me, but when I tried to read what you said, it took me to an ad for a profit University, and I still can't find the chats. (This app is trash) Apart from your third move, you definitely punched above your weight class that game. I'm not bad at this chess thingy.
