yes, the cubs started out historically hot and have been somewhat good/average/bad since. they are playing very bad recently, but they are a reflection of their overall record. 52-35. 17 games over .500.

 

there is no reason or expectation for them to continue on their horrid stretch recently anymore than there is reason or expectation for them to return to their 27-8 form.

 

On the other hand, if they *did* continue their 1-9 pace for the rest of the season, they'd finish 60-102 and might be able to get the No. 1 overall pick.
