I have no idea what Len is talking about with regard to the appeal at second base. Did that make sense to anyone else?

It's a dumb administrative rule. You have to let the umpire know you're appealing for the run to not have been counted. I had this happen in a college game and my manager went ape [expletive].

I still don't get it, but I didn't see the full play yesterday. What was the call on the field and how did it differ from an appeal?

There isn't much to get and its a stupid rule. Before Hammel steps on the mound Zobrist needed to tell the umpire they were appealing. He didn't so the play counted and Smith was called out "incidentally" kind of like being picked off.

lol - yeah, this offense is terrible.

I bet it goes completely downhill the rest of this inning after that rally killing dong.

The first or the second one?

OK, I give up. My peon brain fails to understand the concept of being out incidentally.

Come on, I miss seeing Russell getting in on the action. :(

He's 1-2.

I just started watching, and I was referring to his recent slump as well.

even when arrieta gives stuff up it's almost always off [expletive] lol

Yep, even that last start his stuff was incredible and the Dbacks got some hits off balls hit so poorly they couldn't be fielded

I know it's by design but I miss K everyone Jake and don't like pitch to contact Jake. Pitching to contact is boring.
