Klaw: Hendricks isn’t close to a 1 – he’s been extraordinarily lucky/helped by his defense this year. But he also became a much better groundball guy with the Cubs too, which is where I was too light on him.

He's not really wrong on either account. Isn't his ERA a lot lower than his FIP and xFIP? He's certainly in an optimal situation with great defense all over the place. Even without that though, he's a very solid middle of the rotation guy with a mid 3s ERA who's eating innings and keeping the pen from being burned up.

BTW if anyone forgot this is what Law said about Hendricks after the Cubs acquired him:

 

Hendricks is more of an organizational starter, 87-89 mph with an average cutter and changeup and below-average curveball but good command and a repeatable delivery and arm action. The right-hander could surface as a fifth starter, but his stuff is probably too fringy for that.

 

Which is fine, people are allowed to be wrong and obviously there is a lot of variance when projecting a pitcher who is in high A ball, especially one without great stuff. But every time Law gets asked about it over the last 4 years he seems to always try to knock him or make a justification for his earlier comments.
