I imagine they'll ride Rat Boy and Javy in a platoon at third with Bryant in LF and Soler in RF. Szczur will be back soon too. Not much point in a rental.

if soler and javy suck at the plate, there will be a point.

Soler frankly can't really suck any worse than he has, and Javy doesn't need to be good at the plate because he's amazing on defense.

so if soler ends up sucking like he does now, why wouldn't you see a point in trading for an outfielder?

That single play by Soler was just as unlikely as the entire Ryan O'Malley shutout.

Or the Shawn Estes CGSO

because we don't really need to spend assets acquiring a replacement for a guy who was playing pretty badly just because he's out for a month

i could see your point if he were out for the season or something

Good lord, we are 28-11, going on 29-11, with a 6.5 game lead on the division (with the player who just got injured hitting like .210). We have an outfielder getting ready to come off the DL that's been pretty good. And we have several guys that were top-ten prospects that we can roll our for a month and see how they do. Why in the hell would we need a rental?

Shane Victorino is going to get his chance. That's just as good as a rental!

like i said, i think there's a good chance we want somebody in left field later in the season. i think our front office could find could find somebody who is likely to be better than soler/javy/szczur/seal going into the playoffs. plus then we'd get to keep bryant at third more, which is nice.

i'm not saying i expect them to get somebody, i just kind feel like those 4 guys are likely to suck (seal is the one i'm most optimistic about) and we probably won't have many places to upgrade, so that might be an area we can load up on going into the playoffs. i'm not talking about a big player or anything, just a solid starter.

Seriously 3.1 IP from this guy on 26 pitches

And come on is Soler the unluckiest hitter in baseball history?

They used two relievers, Carrie.
