I caught a home run ball at Wrigley and threw it back several years ago. I think it was a Joey Votto home run. I thought about keeping it, but I was like "Well, all it's gonna do is remind me the Cubs got beat that day, and I really don't care about it" so I tossed it.

Also I made that up because it's a stupid story and you already don't care about it, but if I told someone that story they'd have to believe me. Conversely, if I bought an official NL baseball and dirtied it up a bit and put it on my mantle and said "That was one of Sammy Sosa's home runs during his 1995 30-30 campaign" would you believe me?

It's a baseball. It's practically worthless. Keep it or don't, no one cares.

Sure, you seem like a good guy.

Sosa tossed a ball to my little sister between innings once. I'm pretty sure she doesn't have it anymore. Honestly, it probably got used in a backyard game when we ran out of balls.

I'm legitimately wondering if anyone has agreed with CubbieSwagger about anything on this board? Poor guy.

Literally more than one person has agreed with me in just this thread alone.

I've always wanted to throw back a HR just to see how far I could throw it. However, if McCutchen hit it I wouldn't throw it back. He's on my short list for favorite non-Cubs player. Now, if I had another ball to throw back I would because it's funny and if that bothers you you're taking this way too seriously.

I do have a foul ball from Dan Johnson that was also used in Manny Ramirez's first AB as a TB Ray. I went back to watch after the game to make sure they didn't swap balls after the ground out.

That's the other fun part. Would be nice to throw a laser right to Addy and have him give you a thumbs up or something.

or all the way to the catcher, and the Cubs realize what a strong arm you have, sign you onto their team and you become Rookie of the Year

In a lot of ballparks they'll come by and authenticate the home run ball for you regardless of the player. Depending on who it is, it can be worth some decent coin.

if i caught an opposing dong, i would toss that horsefeathers back so fast. that would be fun as hell. I'd do something memorable like throw it super high in the air or something or punt it and then be like hey im the guy who punted that home run ball back on the field and fell over and hurt himself that you saw on not top 10

Cubs match the 1907 team for best start in team history since 1900.

The +104 RD is the fifth best since 1900, trailing the 1902 Pirates, 1939 Yankees, 1905 Giants and 1912 Giants.
