The latest Poscast with Joe Posnanski and Michael Schur is debating if the Cubs are the baseball version of the Warriors.

As someone who does not follow the NBA, I was thoroughly disappointed they did not compare the Cubs to the Warriors of the 1979 classic film, which would make an interesting conversation in and of itself.

The Ringer has started a baseball podcast, their third one is Cubs centered with Rany Jazayerli. In the first one it's just Simmons and one of his idiot buddies but he made it sounds like they are going to be making at least one hiring of a baseball writer (sounded like more than 1) soon and he/she would be running this podcast with a different guest(s) every time.

rany's article is cool, but the interviewer in this ep asks questions like:

what positions might the cubs target in the draft to upgrade their team?

do you think the cubs are actually better off that schwarber got hurt since they got to upgrade their defense with soler?

She also called Kyle Hendricks "Hendrick". Didn't seem like she knew much about the Cubs other than that they're awesome.

The Schwarber angle is one that didn't annoy me, but it should've been phrased more like 'did the Cubs get hurt a lot less by the Schwarber injury than we thought they would' rather than implying we're actually better off without him, which is ludicrous.

Cubs related podcast: Ivy Envy, BP Wrigleycast, Limited Range, Cubs Related, and the Wrigleyville Nation podcast are all pretty good. General baseball podcast: Effectively Wild is probably my favorite baseball podcast. Baseball tonight's scoreboard is nice because it recaps with all the highlights from radio broadcast and the normal baseball tonight show is usually pretty good as well and they are on the same feed. The fangraphs show with Carson is good when he has Dave Cameron on but outside of that its just Carson shooting the horsefeathers with random people, which I find entertaining but is certainly not baseball related or everyone's cup of tea. I used to really enjoy Bernie Pleskof's Short Hops podcast which was a fantasy podcast but they stopped doing it or moved to a different feed.

ben lindbergh sounds like a robot on EW

I never felt that way, he's maybe a little monotone. Those guys both have great baseball minds. They recently came out with a book about their season running an idependant league team called the Stompers that I'd love to check out soon.

I just hate how that since Schwarber made a couple bad plays in the NLCS against the Mets, everyone thinks he's the worst defender in the history of baseball. That's not to say he's good defensively but people (like the girl who hosted that podcast) make it seem like the Cubs upgraded their defense with Soler playing more often.

Neither one is good defensively. The difference is Schwarber's actually shown the ability to hit. Schwarber's been worth more by either B-R or Fangraphs in 278 PAs as Soler has been in 653 PAs. Losing Schwarber absolutely hurt if for no other reason than we wouldn't have had to deal with Tim Federowicz at all this year.

And if they're going to focus on Schwarber's bad couple plays in the NLCS, the least they could do is mention that he hit 5 dongs in 9 games also.
