Checking out the Cubs offensive leader board. Javy leads in every major category but OBP (Bryant) and BB (Schwarber).

Javy has 6 BB. 4 are IBB. His last IBB was April 11. His last non-intentional BB was April 7.

His stats track very closely to my MLB Road to the Show player.

I used Javy as the base model for my RTTS guy, got annoyed with the way it all worked, and then decided to just start a franchise and player lock with Javy every game for that same reason.

Javy is starting to become the MLB version of the beast he was in the minors. This horsefeathers is insane.

Remember when you took him off your sig? THAT was insane.

That was actually sneaky but I used it as a gag iirc

I was the number one javy backer after 2014 and have never been a javy buster

Why do you feel the need to say you were his number one backer like once a week? There were quite a few of us that have been on his side the entire time.

And sorry, no one's buying you taking him out of your signature as a gag.

And saying this sucks, because you're one of my favorites here.

Y'know, David went full Derwood so gradually that we didn't even notice it happening.

Relax; everyone went through their "Baez sucks" phase because Baez did indeed suck. Unclench that NVIDIA driver.

only because i'm a robot and i need to be right:

i gotta say it's kinda funny that i was seen as a javy apologist like 2 years ago and then after the playoffs the hype got so out of control that i'm seen as the opposite even though i feel like i feel basically the same as i did back then about him as a player, if not a little better about his floor (if deployed properly)

regardless, we have a nearly fully realized javy now. he's headed for bryzzo territory (hopefully tony finds his way back there too).

Javy has always been my favorite. even when I was mad at him like one time I still loved him

No, just think it's very weird you feel the need to constantly bring something up that's not remotely true.

is this a troll post or did you not click any of those links?

the most down i ever got on javy is that i thought the most likely outcome was that most of his value was on defense (and that his insane historic 2016 output in terms of DRS was unsustainable) and mashing the hell out of lefties. i thought he probably would always need to be shielded against all good righties. i also always realized there was a glimmer of a chance of him going balls out superstar.

i also at one point thought that if anyone should be traded (after 2016) for archer or someone like that, it should be him because with all the postseason hype, his perceived value at the time seemed better than his actual value. this offseason i swapped happ into that category instead of him, but i also was pretty much always in "keep them all and horsefeathers trading for pitching" crew.

if you want to dig up the posts, have at it.

Dude, you saying you've been one of his biggest fans, gets negated by the fact you went the other way on him later. All the way to taking him out of your signature. You can says that was a joke, but your comments on Javy were meh at that point and jibe with taking him out. It's not that hard to see.

your interpretation is wrong.

my opinion on him was always more or less the same. from the beginning, it was huge ceiling, low floor (and then his floor went up for me when it was clear he could at least destroy MLB lefties and play great defense). it was just that most everyone else went from being super duper down on him and calling him a bust to liking him way more than i did (in terms of value as a player - i always loved javy as a fun dude to watch).

im not going to waste anymore time arguing over this lol. you can keep telling me what i thought.

ok i'll waste 30 more seconds on it, but only because i'm procrastinating doing actual work.

if this is all about the sig, it was entirely: happ is really good and exciting right now, javy kinda sucks right now, and sneaky posted a funny version of my sig with happ in his place saying "hi guys" so i might as well use it. and after that i just forgot about it and was too lazy to ever remake it because i didn't have the original. i remade it in the offseason at some point. but i'm not sure why my sig is such a big deal lmao.

i fully cop to my bad takes

i.e. i had a hugely irrational fear that kris bryant was going to brett jackson/mike olt at the big leagues bc of his strikeout rates. turns out he's an actual unicorn (much like rizzo) who somehow got better at making contact in the bigs.

i also said there was no horsefeathering way he'd be a 3B after watching one play in the AFL. i argued literally every time someone penciled him in at 3B and said he was a corner OF.
