I'm really looking forward to seeing how we do against some good teams, there's no challenge coming from the Reds for sure. Not that I don't enjoy bludgeoning the crap out of bad teams.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it won't be getting much harder. After we yawn our way through 2 more with the Reds, it's an off day, then a pair of Fecal League Juggernaughts in the Brewers and Braves. Times is hard easy.

Bring on the poo then I guess! Lol Better competition might be the Dodgers, Nationals, Mets, Pirates... One of those. I don't mind creaming the bad teams though, that's what good teams are suppose to do.

who are the good teams? the nats?

fyi cubs have had the "hardest" strength of schedule in baseball so far

I thought we've had one of the easiest schedules so far. The Angels suck, as do the Reds. Colorado is playing well now but they'll likely finish near the bottom of that division. Before the season started everyone was talking about how cream puff the first month of the season was going to be.

good luck finding a month without us playing a bunch of games against sucky teams that are way worse than us

again, fwiw, for the reasons i mentioned earlier. but everyone is playing a lot of games against bad teams. the difference is, we are bludgeoning those bad teams like they're in rookie ball or something.

The Nats and the Mets are really the only 2 teams in the NL that i think can be worthy competition. Everyone else has glaring holes/weaknesses or just aren't that good.

The playoffs are a crapshoot. In any 7 game series any team in this league can win 1 game against the Cubs.

I kinda feel guilty listening to other games and hearing about five runs being a lot. My instant reaction is, "That's cute. They think five runs is a lot."

not gonna lie, i was feeling pretty ho-hum about our run total when javy hit his dong last night. things didn't feel right until that 9th inning.

Yeah, but that would likely happen specifically because Soler is a such a sexy klutz as a defender. Bryant's actually good, so he won't even be in that position to begin with.

the mets? lol

I only include them because the pitching can get dominate. Not overly worried about them on a whole

Sorry about this...

Typing from my phone and autocorrect....Dominant was the intended word

I wonder if tonight/tomorrow may get a little messy. Cubs 5-0 against the Reds, with 4 of them not even remotely close. On paper, the potential for 2 more blowouts is there as the Reds are throwing starters who probably shouldn't be starting major league games. Division rival who the Reds know they will see 12 more times. You had Brennaman with his whining last night. Huge visiting team advantage in the crowd. The one thing I worried about if the Cubs dominated the way they are is to have teams start to throw at them or slide dirty into the bases, etc. Though to be fair, I don't remember a lot of this happening to the Yankees in their heyday.

I'm actually kind of frightened for when Heyward, (and if) Russell, and Soler start hitting the ball.

That could maybe be a concern against a contender during the home stretch. But the Reds strike me as being more sad than angry.

I'm not too worried about that right now as there's not been much to cause resentment besides the Cubs being fantastic at baseball. If they start breaking unwritten rules, batflips when they are up by 10, etc, there may be cause for concern. This season, they have definitely toned it down when they've been up big, so I'm not expecting that, either.

My impression at this point is the team is respected across the league and it's really only the fans getting bent out of shape.
