I wonder if this game is going to cost Haaland - looks terrible.

I dunno, Salah looked horrible until he finally converted that impossible angle for the 2nd goal. Haaland has 4 goals(2 pens) in the previous 3 games against Liverpool/Napoli so he's at least shown off goal scoring bona fides against top competition.

Presumably teams scouting him will watch more than just that game but he looked awkward and slow to me. I tell you who looks great is Lautaro Martinez.

Champions League knockout draw:

- Dortmund/PSG

- Real Madrid/Man City

- Atalanta/Valencia

- Atletico Madrid/Liverpool

- Chelsea/Bayern

- Lyon/Juventus

- Tottenham/RB Leipzig

- Napoli/Barcelona

Dortmund/PSG and Real Madrid/City should be real good. Chelsea/Bayern might have 15 goals between the 2 legs. Excited for Atalanta to have a legit shot at the quarters, and Spurs/Leipzig might be lowkey the best matchup of all.

Spurs-Leipzig should be really good though it's not going to top Pep returning to Madrid . . . that could have been the final! I suspect Bayern will crush Chelsea. Wish I could give Athletico a shot against Liverpool. Now have to wait two months . . .

Interesting PL day. Shocking that Watford beats MU and only Sissoko shows up for Spurs in a huge game. Have to say that Chelsea's attack is pretty weak although they completely dominated the game.

Regarding racism, the commentators were saying Chelsea should have walked off . . . seems like it would be far more powerful if Spurs walked off or they walked off together.

When did the racism stuff happen? I stopped watching after the dummy goalkeeper forgot he could use his hands in the penalty area and karate kicked the Chelsea player to give away a penalty.

Edit: Doesn’t sound like it was audible on TV. Saw Rudiger saying he was getting monkey chants. Hope they figure out who it was and ban them.

right after son was sent off - maybe 62nd minute? Must have been a very frustrating game as a spurs fan - they were awful. Someone also threw a bottle at Kepa. The gap in quality from City/Liverpool to everyone else is huge. Leicester plays their game well but ultimately only have one finisher.

Fill in your joke here . . . .

In other news, Martin Atkinson ended any hope for a competitive premier league season. Tough to argue any of his calls in that game but the guy seems to always ruin big games. Moments before the Ederson red I was actually thinking to myself "I wonder how the ref is going to ruin this game." Stupid red but it was amazing how helpless City was with 10.

Meanwhile, Liverpool looked completely indestructible. Leicester's fast break counter attack was doomed to fail but hard to see anyone challenging the reds if they play with that intensity.

And they all play again with one day of rest . . .

Really tired of people whining over offside reversals - if the player was off they were off. get over it. English fans seem to be far whinier than the rest of the world.

I would support just making the rule about feet though - would be much clearer than the current rule and wouldn't make much difference.

I just have my doubts that they can sync up exactly when the ball is kicked (is it when they initially touch the ball or when the ball comes off the foot?), where the defender is and where the attacker is when it’s that close like that. This isn’t like whether or not the ball crossed the goal line.

The one today that I assume you’re referring to was in the Spurs game. It looked to me like the furthest body part forward on the Norwich player was his shoulder. Where does the shoulder end and the arm begin? Arm can’t be offside because you can’t score with your arm.

So theoretically it’s a clear are you offsides or not but because the line isn’t stationary, it isn’t that simple.

it's first contact with the ball not when it leaves the foot.

Lampard continuing to try to improve the offense by benching his best attacking player. Chelsea is not good.

ehhh he has a leg injury supposedly. Unless you mean Jorghino in which case he rectified it 30 minutes later.

But chelsea is not good. but really only three teams are so whatever, just gotta be top of the middle class, which is exactly what i aspire to be

He's injured again? That makes more sense.

If your 6 is your top attacker, you have problems (though having a good 6 is key to attacking). Willian is ok too but Mason Mount is awful. It's painful to watch the number of poor passes he makes.

Willian has been awesome. Pulisic is dealing with minor injuries, but I think the biggest issue was the workload. He was starting every match in every competition and the absurd English holiday fixture crunch had me worried he was going to gas. He's still been effective when playing, but the finishing hasn't been as sharp and the burst into space a tick slower than at his best. Have to remember he's young, small, and this is his first year in the EPL. He needs some load management now and then.

chelsea needs one guy who can attack a defense on his own and get a good shot. Really they only have Willian capable of that and it's really hurting them the last two months or so.

I just got back from London. The weather being cold enough, I thought I'd see scarves and hats more prominently. I saw one Spurs fan and a couple Man City but I saw a lot more Arsenal and Man U hats/ scarves than anything else. I guess that maybe speaks more to cultural differences with regards to sports. It was cool riding the Tube and seeing the stops for all of the London teams. I would have loved to go to a match but we were only there 3 days and none of my family care about sports.

Reyna makes his debut in the final 20 minutes for Dortmund.

No one will be talking about that though because Haaland also debuted on 55' and managed to pick up a hat trick to pull Dortmund from 3-1 down to a 5-3 win.

The Bundesliga is the funnest league to watch in my opinion. Seems like every team attacks. Would be great if Bayern comes back to the pack and the race is competitive every year.

Gio Reyna debuted for Dortmund last weekend. That's tight.

Just getting Bundesliga minutes at 17 is awesome, but to do it at a power like Dortmund, and in an attack that already has Haaland, Reus, Gotze, Sancho, Hazard, Paco Alcacer, and Larsen is outright crazy.

he got in again yesterday. Meanwhile Haaland is at something around 9 goals per 90. That's right, 5 goals in 50 minutes.

Haaland is ridiculously efficient. He could be a better Lewandowski.

Interesting thing about Reyna is that he's actually really physical and more of an athlete than Claudio. He should get called up to the national team this summer.

If he keeps getting these cameos I wouldn't be surprised to see him in March, especially since Weah's health is up in the air, Boyd fell off the face of the earth, and Morris could reasonably be held out with all the MLS + CCL fixtures on his plate.

TOR! And a beauty! https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/02/04/gio-reyna-goal-video-dortmund-werder-bremen

De La Fuente reups with Barca - he could be starting for first team soon the way they are going.
