Guessing that will likely end this month. Arsenal won 6 of 7 games and the only one they didn't was a 95th minute loss at Villa so I wouldn't be surprised if Arteta gets it.

I know you weren't saying the December manager of the month will be fired though.

Yeah, I wasn’t really saying anything. 😛

Just a bit of an anomaly.

There have been so many false dawns that I don’t want to say that we have turned the corner, but we’ve also had two impressive performance against the top 2.

At this stage Michael Carrick is the best candidate for the job long term. No one else top quality is going to be available, so it’s either signing up a recent sacked PL manager, someone from a lower rated European league or the interim manager who has managed the club to wins over City and Arsenal.

If you had told me before the year that Amorim would get fired in January, I would have bet every ManU under. The fact that they're in 4th is pretty crazy.

Related, I love soccer journalism:

Great win today. They've turned things around from last year. But they're 12 points back, they're closer to Spurs/Palace in 14th/15th than they are to Arsenal and they're 8 points back of Villa/City. It's great that they just beat City and Arsenal in back to back games, but prior to that, they tied Wolves, Burnley and Leeds in 3 straight games.

Benfica’s GKer just scored a 97th minute goal to put them 4-3 up on Real Madrid. That goal moved Benfica up from 25th to 24th which qualifies them for the next round.

US group stage times are crazy considering we're the host country.  I get that the games are on the west coast but 50% of the country lives in ET and 75% in ET or CT.

Friday, June 12 at 9pm ET

Friday, June 19 at 3pm ET (wtf? 3pm on a workday?)

Thursday, June 25 at 10pm ET (wtf? 10pm on a work night?)

I'm sure the 6/19 game time is to accommodate Australia (8am in Sydney), but the 6/25 game is against a UEFA team meaning it will air in the middle of the night over there.

Great save by Bananarama to preserve City’s 2-1 advantage and a wild finish to the game. Szoboszlai had some game.

I get the ruling, but I really don't like the overturn of the Man City goal at the end of the game. It's going to be a goal because there's no goalie and the ball went into the goal without another touch. And Haaland would have gotten there had he not been grabbed by Szoboszlai. But because Haaland pulls Szoboszlai back after he gets grabbed, it negates the goal. And because the Szoboszlai foul occurs outside of the penalty area, you can't even say that Haaland should have gone down and taken the penalty kick.

Ultimately it didn't matter though.

I'll preface this by saying by no means do I think Spurs would have won or gotten a point out of either game but...

If anyone can explain to me why this is not a foul:

but this is a foul:

That would be great. Because I don't see a difference between the two.

Good news! Two hand pushes in the back are no longer fouls!

10 of the 16 points that Wolves have picked up this season have come against Tottenham (when they were 3-1-1 by MD6), Manchester United, Newcastle, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool.

That was embarrassing, even by 2025-26 Spurs standards. I turned it off after 15 minutes and swapped to Barca-Newcastle.

Also, for this flop, which was given as a foul and led to the fourth goal, Spurs deserve one free shot at Alvarez next game, with the max penalty being a yellow card. I'd be more annoyed but it was already 3-0 so it didn't matter at all.

So there was a lot of talk if it was a good thing the EPL had 6 teams in the last 16. Well, Spurs will be gone, Chelsea and Man City would have to overturn 3 goal deficits and are likely gone, Newcastle has to at least get a draw at Barcelona and Liverpool has to beat Galatasaray at home. The only team I feel confident will advance is Arsenal, and they needed an incredibly soft penalty just to get a tie.

Combined over 2 legs:

Chelsea had 2.6 xG on 27 shots including 13 on target.

PSG had 1.99 xG on 17 shots including 13 on target.

PSG won 8-2 on aggregate.

Well, at least Igor Tudor was looking snazzy today.

Barrel chest as well. Must be from all the horsefeathers he’s trying to push up hill.
