This is like the second best team in all of our lifetimes according to the playoffs, why undersell that?

And almost everyone in our lineup is <25, and cost-controlled for at least four more seasons. Even the magical Cardinals never put together an offense like this.

Hate to throw truth on the pity party, but 2015 is an enormous success by any measure.

Oh yeah, everyone knows that. In a day after we've all stepped back this will be easier to say.

Remember kids, after every trip to the playoffs we (older fans) were convinced that we had just had a good season and the future was bright.

Sure, but just assuming that everything is going to go wrong going forward seems pretty pointless.

Given the choice, would you guys lock in an extended run of 90s Braves like dominance if you knew it would yield one title and playoff disappointment the vast majority of the time or would you rather roll the dice and see if we can rip off a couple of titles, or more, with no guarantee that we would win any?

I'd take the title in a heartbeat. I think it would be crazy not to, honestly.

I'd love to see a Cub run like the 90s Braves. It would be nice not to feel like the Charlie Brown of MLB, and people might STFU about curses for a while.

At least the [expletive] Cardinals had to sit at home and watch us lay an egg.

Murphy's totally going 0-fer in the World Series.

I'd rather see him continue to mash to keep upping his eventual huge burdensome contract when he goes back to normal.

So I know the backstory a little on Pink Hat guy but us he really a Cubs fan or just wants to own the team? He got a little pissed the last few games at the ums but I've never seen him actually cheer.

Regarding Hammel's contract, I'm pretty sure it's a club option for $12 million and he can't trigger a guarantee with any kind of pitching performance or number of innings. It's all up to the Cubs if they want him back for that third year, but if they decline they have to pay 2 million for the buyout.

Definitely, though inevitably Kyle is going to run in here and point out how bright the future looked after 2003, too.

Personally, I was expecting/hoping for them to finish in the 85-87 win range. That would have been an enormous success to me with all of the new players and after how craptacular the previous several seasons had been. Finishing with 97 wins? Beating the Pirates in the WC? Beating the Cardinals the first time either team had played each other in the playoffs? And after losing game 1? [expletive], what a crazy season.

We bashed the [expletive] out of StL in the NLDS. I don't blame more casual fans for being pumped.

Nobody foresaw Arietta's season. I doubt even Al Yellon expected this much production out of our lineup this early.

We overachieved, and we were fortunate to run into a Cards' rotation that had been injured/Matheny'ed. Either way, we're way ahead of schedule. This NLCS will pay dividends in the future.

Not that it's going to happen, but after all the running the Mets have done this series, I'd sure like to see Soler & KB successfully execute a double steal.
