I don't like this at all. The Cardinals bullpen is in significantly better shape than the Cubs. We need to score this inning.

Every non-Maness pitcher gave up a HR yesterday. They're not that great.

Never thought we would win this with a 2 run early lead, time to grab some more runs.

of course you didn't

I'm usually not one to second guess the manager - especially maddon - but i don't see why grimm and wood couldn't have each gone 2 innings today. you're playing with fire bringing in so many different pitchers when their predecessor has obviously been very good. oh well, go get some runs and win.

I don't have any doubts about going to Wood after 1 inning from Grimm. Top of the order is up, meeting that with a fresh arm is the right call, and Wood mowed them down.

Since I let Wood hit and the single he gave up was a blooper, I'd probably have left him in until another runner got on though.

yep. and now they're back to the top of the order, which means every baserunner means another top of the order hitter comes up in the 9th too.

that's fair. grimm just looked SO completely dominant I'd have liked to see him with one more inning (or at least start it). and i definitely wouldn't have pulled wood after the broken bat single. but hindsight is 20/20 so whatever.
