Is anyone else kind of grossed out by the Royals not telling him? The dude has a right to know that his [expletive] dad died, even if it means you have to switch starting pitchers. Edited by Gilby

I wonder how he's gonna react when he finds out the team withheld that information from him.

I don't necessarily think that their intention is to withhold the information from him because they are more concerned with winning. There is a right place and right time to break this kind of news to someone. Is it right now in the dugout between innings? It could also be an issue where his family made a request to the team not to inform him...they might want to break it to him personally after the game.

And again, there are very conflicting reports. ESPN and their reporters are saying he knows. It could just be that this team rep that talked to the WaPo guy didn't know he had found out elsewhere.

Or maybe Volquez told the team not to tell him if it happened. Reports say his dad passed of a heart disease so he knew it could be coming. Maybe he told them earlier that if it happened day of his start, to not tell him until later.

Yost having Cain bunt with a runner on 2nd and 0 out. Cain has 0 career sac bunts in nearly 2,000 PA. Never change Ned.

I'm not convinced that was called from the dugout. But I also wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Good game. Man the Royals almost make me believe in Hawk Harrelsons TWTW nonsense.

Tough to hate the Mets too much. It's somewhat refreshing to see that Daniel Murphy isn't Barry Bonds after all. The only real reason I have to root against them is this Murphy the Goat a$$hole piece of $hit but I'm sure he's really a Cardinals or White Sox fan.

I saw a tweet this morning that said he did it on his own because he wasn't feeling good about his swing.

I hope this series will make sportswriters write a whole bunch of dumb stuff about contact hitters and strike outs and the Royals Way.

Though they just have a really nice group of young hitters, and the Mets have made some really bad defensive plays (Both Alcides Escobar's inside the parker and his triple today should have been caught)

sal perez is on a 5 year 7 mil contract with 3 club options

That has got to be the biggest steal in all of baseball.

I keep hearing that they are going to re-do the deal to give him more money and a few more years.
