As of right now I really think Jake has the Cy Young. Greinke and Kershaw can still make their closing arguments in their final starts tonight and tomorrow. If they are both dominant as Kershaw was in his last start it is going to make this all the more interesting. However if they are simply human and surrender a couple of runs then the award will go to Jake.

I know CY voting has gravitated away from the meatball standards of the past, but in a year where any of the top 3 are seriously deserving, I think the guy with the no hitter and historically dominate stretch will get the scales tipped his way.

Not only that, but when you are splitting hairs over minute differences in peripherals, I don't think it is crazy to give the award to the guy with 22 wins (vs. 18 or 19 for Greinke). Yes, we all know that pitcher wins don't mean a lot, but in this case I think they still count for "something."

Who cares about the Bucs. I just want to match 97 wins.

Can we get the 08 Cubs and whoever the rainout was against back together to play that makeup game so we don't have a half game separating us. If they win I can live with it.

Pirates would be nothing without PNC Nat'l Forest.

Well, they've done a hell of a job building a team for that park with 3 guys who are essentially CFs in their OF. Also, they lost out on a HR from Aramis early in the game that he hit to the deepest part of the park for an out.

If you made a pro/con list for all of them, I think Jake would come out on top.

Still seems crazy to me this team is essentially 2008-good. That team was absurd and dominant from start to finish. Being in third place is probably part of the reason it feels different, but even around the trade deadline there was some doubt how good we were. Hell, Theo's most recent radio interview made it sound like he wasn't really expecting to make the playoffs then. But damn what a fun season.

It's definitely partly the fact that we're in third place but mainly how the season went (which you mentioned with how dominant 2008 was).

After 97 games, the 2015 Cubs were 51-46. After 97 games, the 2008 Cubs were 57-40. The worst month for the 2008 team was September at 12-12,. After that, it was June at 15-12 (.556). This year, three of the first four months were below or equal to that month. The 2008 team had a .600 winning percentage in the first half and .606 in the second. This year it's .540 and .648.

Like you said, it was pretty clear from the beginning that the 2008 team was really good. We could tell this year's team was good, but they didn't really take off until that Colorado series.

You have to choose a night Jim Edmonds isn't escorting.
