OK, so I'll eat a little crow on Cahill. Still not sold he'd obviously be a better option to start over Hammel. But he's been good in his role for sure.

 

I'm totally cool with making the 3rd starter some kind of Frankenstein monster made up of pitchers.

i'm inclined to agree with you, finally. but after tonight i'd rather give hendricks with ball and just give him a SHORT leash. no harm in that, right?

That's pretty much the same thing as a Frankenstein monster made up of pitchers.

not if hendricks can throw 6 innings of shutout baseball like he did tonight. i just think he has the best chance to give you extended innings of quality pitching. but then again i (i.e. nobody) really knows what to expect out of any of those guys on any given night.

I want Cahill and Richard back next year. They're one year deal types and my guess is both can still be had very cheaply.

 

But they're both pen guys moving forward, in my opinion. The stuff spiked and they surely have more value this way.
