I imagine Travis Wood is standing in a completely empty Wrigley right now hoping more animals show up.

Sutcliffe is on ESPN radio and was saying he's still not sure if the Cubs should start Lester or Arrieta in the WC game because he's seen what Lester has done in the postseason (ok so far so good) and when he saw Lester step up last year in the Wild Card game he knew this guy shows up in big games. (Hmm)

Also they asked who he thinks will start as though maddon hadn't already basically announced it, which was weird.

He also said that after saying arrieta was unquestionably the cy young winner, so lmao

Maybe it is weird, but ESPN creating unnecessary discussion topics is pretty much the norm.

even though pittsburgh is 3.5 up, we still control our own destiny (as far as HFA), so there's that.

Let's [expletive] the Pirates up. I was fine rooting for them while we were still rebuilding. Now, they're just a nuisance. If you would have told me before this season that the Cubs would win around 95 games and play at PNC in the Wild Card game, I would have been ecstatic, as well as moderately annoyed.

Your fun ends here, Buccos.

Ugh. Now I have to figure out a way to sneak out of work.

gah, I though all 3 NL Central teams were going to clinch playoff spots before any other team did but Royals clinched the AL Central tonight.

If it makes you feel any better, Royals still would have clinched before Cubs had the Cubs beaten the Brewers in their last game cause the Giants lost later on.

Am I alone in thinking that Jake should be skipped Sunday, so the Pirates don't get a preview just weeks before he faces them with it all on the line?

If the Cubs lose 2 straight, that may happen. There would be no chance to overtake them and host the playoff game. If the Cubs win the first two then the chance to host the WC means he has to pitch. If they split the first two, well, then maybe/maybe not.
