Bryant is resting today dammit

Maddon also doing the "put replacement in same spot in order no matter who they are" thing that Dusty loved.

I'd think part of that is for when KB pinch hits once Lynn is out, he's in his normal lineup spot.

Guess Joe is putting much more emphasis on passing the Pirates than the division. Which I guess makes sense being 7 games out with 16 to play and only 3 head to head games. Otherwise he would have arranged the rotation so at least 1 of Lester/Arrieta pitched this series or at the very least ensured that we didn't have an unnecessary bullpen day tomorrow.

Lester is pitching on Sunday.

Tommy La Stella is an infuriating enigma. I thought we had left such childish things behind.

Also, it would really help my NL Only fantasy team in the playoffs if Haren doesn't suck and Lynn gets obliterated.

Could not possibly give less of a patooty about splits and how they relate to La Stella. He is a garbage person who has no future in baseball and he is making Javier Baez sit on the bench. Anyone who supports this, especially when someone like Bryant is getting a break, probably kicks puppies and spits on babies.

I hope he's Kanged out of his baseball career today.

Sure, much better LHH than La Stella.

We don't have to pretend that devolving back to this kind of MI nonsense is tolerable just because Maddon is doing it.

you're jumping the shark with this, and i hate lastella too

loading up on lefties against this guy is exactly what you should do. it's not dustyish or whatever the hell you're trying to suggest.

Nothing wrong with wanting your high-ceiling prospects to play over an unlikable non-prospect like La Stella.

what's wrong is that we're still trying to win baseball games and ol' unlikable La Stella gives us a better chance to do that

i think that part may be debatable

but thinking that it's clear cut wrong and dumb to play lastella is just silly given the circumstances

As statistically unlikely as it is as catching them I still just want to pound the Cardinals into savage and merciless submission, and I want it done with the most amazing, balls-out lineup possible. Even when they win today it will just be eking it out compared to the brutality they could have unleashed.

Rational thinking has no home here today. Seek not just to destroy, but to crush their spirit.

i'm not trying to claim either side of that.
