i kind of want the pirates to keep winning.

oh my god this is a real person

you're getting really aggressive with this gimmick lately. let nsbb breathe, david.

over a third of the cubs remaining games are with the pirates. obviously i'm rooting for the cubs there. if the cubs pass the cardinals, they most likely passed pittsburgh too. in the event that the cubs don't win the division, i really would like the cubs to play the cardinals. i think it's an easier matchup, and getting the chance to knock out st. louis in one game (with arrieta pitching) sounds extremely appealing. getting home field against pittsburgh doesn't really mean as much to me.

anyways, i said "kind of". i'm not really actively rooting for them.

All perfectly reasonable (I've been preferring the idea of knocking the Cardinals out in one game for a little while, too), but you have to remember that David is some kind of cursed were-meatball. When the Cubs lose he undergoes a horrifying transformation and then nobody is safe until it subsides.

Go for the division and let the Cards and Pirates duke it out for the wild card spot while the Cubs have disco parties and magician shows while they prepare for the winner.

With the division within striking distance and the Cards not playing immaculate baseball, this is the proper thing to root for.

The Rangers won the opener of their 4 game series with the Astros and are now only a half game back in the AL West. With the Twins winning tonight as well, that means the Astros are 1.5 games(just 1 in the loss column) from being outside the playoffs entirely.

Lol Cubs Twitter is worried about the Giants again.

If the Cubs go 10-10 the Giants would have to go 18-1 to pass us. If we completely collapse and go 6-14, the Giants would have to still go 14-5 to pass us

In giving up 4 runs in the ninth which tied the game, the White Sox:

-Allowed a hitter to reach on a wild pitch on strike 3

-Allowed a hitter to reach on catcher's interference

-Allowed the tying run to score on a passed ball

I think I might have to go back and listen's to Hawk's call that inning.

Are you really surprised? Some of the people on there...yeesh.

Giants have had their schedule ease up the last week or so, so it's not really surprising that they're winning games again.

This Astros/Rangers game on ESPN right now is [expletive] great.

Last night's game was great too. Big Fielder HR in the 8th.

Side note: I'm hoping for a crazy scenario where the Angels come back and the Angels, Rangers, Astros and Twins all end with the same record and they have to use this tiebreaker:

Three-Club Tie for Division Championship & Tie with Club Outside Division For One Wild Card Spot:

After Clubs have been assigned their A, B, C and D designations (In this case, Club D would be the Club outside the Division), Club A would host Club B and Club C would host Club D.

1. If Club D wins, it would be declared the Wild Card Club and the winner of the game between Club A and Club B would be declared the Division Champion.

2. If Club C wins, then the winner of the game between Club A and Club B would host Club C. The winner of the game would be declared the Division Champion and the loser would be declared the Wild Card Club.

Lol White Sox down 16-2 in the 4th

Shark has no choice but to bet on himself next year.

ERA up to 5.27.

I wonder what he'll do with his cutter after this season. He's throwing it a lot more than he used to which is probably why his strikeouts are way down. I wanted to say he should abandon the pitch and focus on his fastball, split, and slider in order to get more K's, but looking at fangraphs' pitch values, his cutter has been his second best pitch this year. He's thrown his fastball under 40% of the time this season after being over 55% with the Cubs. Just kind of weird he changed his pitch selection so much after a really good season.

That's crazy awesome, Sammy's Boombox. I'm definitely down for seeing that.

With the Yankees, Twins, Rangers and Astros this one may actually be slightly more plausible:

Two-Club Tie for Division Championship & Tie with Two Clubs Outside Division For Two Wild Card Spots:

1. Two tiebreak games will be played. One will feature the two Clubs tied for the Division to determine the Division Champion, and the other will feature the other two Clubs outside the division to determine one Wild Card Club. Home field advantage in each game will be determined by the rules above for a two-team tiebreaker.

2. A third tiebreak game will be played between the loser of the game to determine the Division Champion and the loser of the game between the two Clubs outside the division to determine the second Wild Card Club. Home field advantage in the game will be determined by the rules above for a two-team tiebreaker.
