Man, watching teams do dumb things against the teams ahead of the Cubs might be more irritating than watching the Cubs do dumb things. Hechavarria smoked a ball into the LF corner for the fish and decided to try to stretch it into a triple against Marte, who made a really easy throw to 3rd base to nail him easily.

More terrible Marlins base running, but at least Cutch made an error first to give the fish the lead 2-1.

LaRussa was on some MLB Network show today talking about the D-backs. Host said something about winning 4 of 5. Then LaRussa says something like, "we had 14 hits last night but somehow couldn't scratch across more runs."

 

He knows why, he's probably the one who made the deal.

I just don't get baseball. I don't understand how the same team overperforms in some category every year. According to Fangraphs, the Cardinals are outperforming their BaseRuns wins by nine. NINE. Even if they were lucky at just half that rate, the Cubs would be right on their tails rather than hoping they go on a well-deserved skid.
