A few pages later in that thread, prescience:

Does anyone more familiar with their system know if the Orioles have much left in the tank? If so, this got me thinking...

jasoncollette @jasoncollette

Over the last 30 days, the #Orioles have both the highest team OPS (.793) as well as the highest team ERA (5.17)

I suggested him at 4/64 a week ago or so, but he's losing velo and has tired out over the 2nd half. I'm thinking I was very high on that number.

Not sure on the velocity but he stunk in August and September last year also as the A's collapsed. He had a 6.05 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP those two months.

Finally! We find out B2B's real name.

Nick Vlahos is gonna parlay this into some kind of [expletive] book deal or something.

The Theo stuff isn't even so bad, except for the horrible timing of it. It's the "Don't celebrate this yet! I've seen them blow it a million times! We are the Cubs! And if we lose... here's why!" mindset. I mean, wow, this man is paid to write things?

Yeah it'd be better off if people just ignored him. He's a townie sportswriter, he has no real audience, no sway. No different than a hundred other people who you can find being Wrong On The Internet about a given topic.

IIRC, he's not even a sportswriter. He covers local government or something.

Theo was on with Goff and Spiegel. Standard Theo interview. He did say something to the effect of "ideally you have a team good enough to where you don't need to be the team being talked about in November and December, but we anticipate a pretty dramatic offseason"

i'll try to remember to post a link once it's uploaded

Read this [expletive]. It's awesome.

I remember Theo Epstein wandering through the lobby at the 2012 general managers’ meetings in Indian Wells, Calif., looking uncomfortable, muttering something to the effect of, “I’m irrelevant.”

And I remember thinking, and maybe even replying, “Not for long.”

This was coming. We all knew it was coming. The Cubs were far from a quick fix, losing 91, 101, 96 and 89 games in their first four seasons under Epstein as president of baseball operations and Jed Hoyer as GM. But the team reached the National League Championship Series last season, a year ahead of schedule. And now, goodness, Epstein is unleashing the monster.

I don't think even Kyle would go so far as to pin 2011 on Theo.

The FO has done an incredible job and Theo/Jed have stuck to their plan through thick and thin. I really hope this is the makings of a dynasty. I would like to see a minimum of 2 WS championships from this core, what about everyone else?
