I'd be cool with Shields for Castro, but they'd have to kick in some money.

One thing to note: Shields can opt out of his contract after 2016. So, I suppose if he had a really great year next season, the Cubs could lose him pretty quickly. But, yeah.

James Shields is guaranteed $21MM per year in 2016-2018 and he'll be 35 years old by opening day 2017. He could have the greatest season in modern baseball history in 2016 and would be a fool to opt out.

Yup. Agreed. That's why we kinda added the "but, yeah," part, even though it probably didn't make sense. Just wanted to put the note out there about the option so everybody is as informed as possible.

Any interest in taking a flyer on Jedd Gyorko to play second in a trade? Not far removed from a really solid rookie season... although he's been pretty brutal since.

Is this a [expletive] joke?

Twitter is the worst

Yes, we heard you.

It can't be said enough

You do realize that contradictory rumored like this existed long before Twitter. Or maybe you don't.

But now everyone is trying to be the first one to be wrong

Before twitter, possible breaking news was no excuse to lose your manners. People waited patiently for the Sunday paper to get the full story.
