Damn. I feel like my magnificent new sig drove them to victory...and then when I had to bail before the end it all went kaput.

Ah well, cool with the split, plus I liked a lot of what I saw tonight.

You can probably replace MarnDy with some form of Torres.

I just get a good laugh out of all these gives who live off of stats that are easy to see - then I prove my point with very definitive evidence and it's like "well..umm.. Look at stats since May!" It's like - just bc you don't agree with what I have to say, don't be the guy who disagrees just to do it.

So the bullpen is the best in baseball for over a month, in every situation, and all of a sudden a single blown 9th inning lead and the Cubs need a closer.

this guy is a BIG believer in small sample situational stats

Actually in high leverage situations, they were middle of the pack in the last month and for the season they are among the worst.

What also hurt is Castro not getting the runner from 3rd in with one out. He gets that guy in with contact and even with the Pheralta HR we are atleast tied and who knows what would have happend.

Can we at least all agree that our bullpen sucks in situations when it's the top of the 9th on July 8, 2015 against Jhonny Peralta with 2 out and 2 strikes?

I can live with that.

Yes he failed miserably tonight. Well I guess he had an RBI infield single but his 2 Ks with runners on 3rd and 1 out erased any goodwill from that

He also drove in an RBI. Ohhhhh, you're tearing me apart!

One person's "definitive evidence" is another person's "statistical noise". The margin of error is greater than the difference due to sample size.

Only because the pitcher wasn't covering first. Don't really get how Castro is still defendable at this point.

You're continually mistaking people countering your meatball hatred as defending. Everyone knows he's having a crappy season; there's just a tedious contingent of Cubs fans that seem to really be reveling in it.

you said that most closers are much worse in non-save situations. this terribly formatted article seems to indicate that the average closer is marginally worse in non-save situations, so it doesn't even back up the argument that you were making.

by the way, rondon was better in save situations than non-save situations last season. strop was better in high leverage situations than medium and low leverage situations last year. shame that they were both apparently closers last year but no longer are closers this season due to a half season of poor performance in higher-leverage spots.

I'd rather have him playing well because it helps the Cubs not only now but in the future and even if he's not in the Cubs plans, he's an attractive trade piece. Right now, I don't think anyone wants to touch him for the price people think he's worth and that's bad for the Cubs.

By ARCUbsFan logic, Montero only drove in his RBI's because the ump didn't call him out on strikes.

Yes, everyone realizes that and agrees. So do we really need you griping about how much he sucks basically every game? Even when he has a good game you're ranting whenever he makes an out.
