Let's bring back Joe Carter for TV. Much like being a baseball player doesn't necessarily make you a good coach - the same can be said for broadcasting.

Dave Otto is OK - not great, but has decent insight. Hollandsworth is ok when he's not studdering. Dan Plesac was solid - bummed we lost him to MLB Network.

No, no, no and no.

Moreland was bad but he was better than Coomer.

Boy I could not disagree more. Ron is awful at PBP but he's fine as a color guy. Not only was Moreland a terrible clichebot as a color man, he inexplicably could not develop any cadence at all with Pat and dragged him down.

I love Pat and Ron. I dunno, I dig Coomer.

I dont think i've ever seen someone be as bad at his job as joe carter. im talking anything. I worked at walmart for a year in high school and there was a special needs guy who worked there that made himself a driver's license on a piece of cardboard who grabbed a pallet stacked 6-feet high with gallons and milk and spilled that [expletive] all over the floor. Covered like 1/4th of the store in milk. And Joe carter was worse than that guy.

I'm not gonna lie; imb's description made just kind of assume that this guy grabbed a pallet full of milk cartons and then just flung it into the air like the Hulk using his special strength. Now I feel pretty terrible.

I'm not really new around here, but just want to make sure I get this straight.

People do not tolerate racist jokes or racism on this board (a good thing), but making jokes about handicapped people as a way to rip on a former broadcaster is a post of the year candidate?

OK. Gotcha.

I don't think he made a joke about a handicapped person. He told a story about a handicapped person and then compared that person positively in comparison to a former professional athlete.

yeah that special needs guy was badass, he was fun as hell to work with. He would cuss out the managers in the middle of the store and stuff and everyone just laughed it off. But yeah, he sucked at his job.

the real issue.

How bad of an announcer Joe Carter is?

For sure.

If only he looked and sounded and was as smart as Len Kasper.

Wait. You have a problem with that?

No, it honestly confused me (if it was meant to be as sarcastic as I read it).

It was meant to be sarcastic, but why did it confuse you?

ETA: The point being that people flip out over racial stuff on here (as they should) but it doesn't extend to other areas that I feel should be treated with as much respect.

That said, I'm not looking to further talk about this. I've taken up enough of the board's time. I stand by my statements but anything else I add will just be for the sake of repeating my stance.

I'm pretty much the only person that made a terrible joke about the guy in imb's story, so if you're pissed off about it then just be pissed off at me. imb was just telling an amusing story from his own life and taking a dig at a shitty announcer and other people found it funny.

The other part confused me because who the hell is worried about what an announcer looks like?
