2 batters too late pulling Wood. You have your most reliable reliever ready in the pen. The lefty got the lefty out. Facing a good right handed hitter - bring your righty in.

Honestly, just a very poor managerial decision by Maddon. Love the guy, but was just an overall bad non-move leaving Wood out there and setting Grimm up with a bad situation.

Lindor has been far better as a right handed hitter this year.

 

The only thing I can think of is that Russell's changes of speeds are better for a punchless hitter like Lindor instead of him being able to square up Grimm's hard stuff.

it sure is weird how uzr says chris coghlan is the third or fourth best lf in mlb but then when you watch him play he looks like that
